    Default Hero archetypes in anime.

    Hello all.
Im new to the forum, and relativity new to Anime as well. Ive seen and loved acouple miyazaki films, Perfect Blue, and Avatar:TLAB, (though I know its not actually produced in Japan)

Anyways, I recently took a class on Anime, and its renewing my interest. But I still dont know enough and ive got a presentation coming up.

Our presentation is on the different hero archtypes. We need to present on the common archtypes, give a definition, examples from Anime or Magna, and comparisons with either historical examples or the archetype of their western counterpart.

Here is what me and my partner (who knows even less then me on Anime) have so far:

Pacifist hero. (some have spiritual or wise characteristics?) (,)
    Reluctant Effete/shy hero (,)
    Masculine hero/ Shonin Hero.... Compare/contrast (,)
    Anti-hero/ Enemy-turned-hero (,)

    PS:
I am doing Masculine hero and Shonin Hero.

I'm a fan of the un-motivated heroines, like shikamaru from naruto. It's realy cool when you see them step up to do somthing like protect sombody, they have alot of potencial but are just to lazy. Naruto is shonin, give it a shot man.

Ichigo from Bleach is your Masc hero. But also in a way a anti hero. Started out against the soul reaperas then ultimately saves them all.

First thing that came to my mind is Naruto. He's shounen.

You know what i hate about anime heroes? When they kill thousands of enemy grunts like its nothing , and then when they are about to kill the main villain they are all like "Oh noes , i cant take away an human life , if i do , ill be just like you!!!11".

    It really annoys me.
