However I think more what you are talking about is the social and family pressure. The East, India, Bangladesh, the Orient, is socially very different from the west: It's very family orientated. As a result marriage to foreigners, people of other culture, will be frowned upon. And the ethos of this kind of thinking becomes ingrained in some people's tastes.
I can imagine it myself: If i bought, say, an African girl home to my Bengali parents, there would be social stigma from the family. I can't really say how much, but i can feel there would at least be some reservation. Honestly though, i wouldn't care what family would think- a relationship of love transcends that of family for me...
