I can't wait for this game!
I'm kind of mixed about this game, I'm probably going to get it the day it comes out since I've been waiting for it since 2010 or so.
But I think they went totally left field with that I think BioShock was about for the first two games. Bioshock was about this futuristic yet in the past civilization that relied on on these "drugs" to give you powers such as telekinesis, electric shock, incinerate, etc. Rewriting the DNA make-up of biological humans. Then a civil war happened and the entire civilization died out or became splicers living in this submerged and flooding oasis.
The whole game at a bit of mystery and charm as you find out more about the world your end and the peoples lives who were affected by this.
And now you go up into the sky. And gaaaah.. Idk.. I was excited but the more trailers and commentaries I see about the game the less I think I'll like it.

BlueAngel, This is set in a time well before Bioshock 1 or 2. It is not a prequel or a sequel at all. But man o man does it look very promising!
I was kinda dissapointed by Bioshock 2 , so i wont get very hyped for it , but i am still gonna play it.
Doesn't mean they didn't get off track with what the whole Bioshock series was about... I don't see anything biologically shocking about this new game :/ Seems sort of stupid to be labeled Bioshock still. It just looks like a civil war type game now... Which was what Bioshock2's multiplayer focused heavily on for the online gameplay. In previous games you just focused on the story of this underwater city in ruins.
You even have more moderen and realistic guns... So far from what I see, only the way the scenery looks the same. Like how everything looks like the it's from the roaring 20's.. I'm not at all interested in Elizabeth's character yet... But we shall see I guess...

bioshock infinite is being lead by the genius that made the original bioshock: Ken Levine. bioshock 2 was lead by a different team. They can rightly call it bioshock if they want to. It has similar game mechanics to plasmids, and also enemies that are a semblance to the big daddies. An interview with ken explains how, whereas with the original bioshock, the science fiction was mainly based on genetic modification, infinite's is based on the work of phycisists such as max planc and heisenberg. there is a reason for the more modern looking weapon that ties into this. you don't need it to be a continuation of the original story to keep calling it bioshock.
You don't call Portal, Portal if you don't use portals but instead use something with Companion Cubes.. Related but sort of off topic :/
and yea, these
look stupid..
The more I see about the game the more saddened I get.. Major fan of 1 and 2.. I was super stocked about infinite until more and more trailers and info came out about gameplay and plot etc. The first trailer got my attention but everything else that followed just seems to fail in comparison. Personally Bioshock 2 was the best out so far imho.

I love the BioShock series. I also heard pretty good things about BioShock Infinite. Once I get the money I'd like to try it out.
Gero Server Guru
I'm with @blueangel06661 I'll try it but it might be best if I go in ignoring the name attached to it.
I enjoyed my escapades in Rapture, and think it's stupid to change the setting to something so completely different. I enjoyed the feeling that the game gave when you could be attacked by a gang of splicers around every corner, playing as a Big Daddy in BioShock II, the Audio Diary collecting, BioShock is one of my most favorite games of all time. I'm looking forward to this new game, but I'm not that pumped now that it's not Rapture anymore... =/
Well put brotha, well put... The audio diaries were my favorite part... I loved having to SEARCH for the story rather than the story coming to you.. It takes quite a few playthroughs and each one you find a brand new audio diary you missed before and the story makes more and more sense.. I absolutely love it.... I'd love to go to Rapture ;___; it's so unique, mysterious, intriguing, and yet very VERY dangerous..

I`m gonna buy it, but I can wait for it, becaus I need money now :P
Won`t be buying a new game for awhile probably, but that doesn`t matter now, becaus I have Mass Effect 3 to complete with my paragon Femshep, then play ME2 again as a male renegade, then ME3 with that characther.
Then ME3 again on Insanity, will probably be the last trophy I need, though I`m not too sure that I`ll manage to get this one though, it`s apparently much harder than what it was on ME2.
Then I have Kingdom of Amalur I want to finish.
And many other games I want to try and get more trophies in.
Oh the life of a trophy hunter :P

That 3rd enemy made looks pretty creative xD Well all of them look creative of course :P
I'm not as excited for this game as I was when it was first announced.
Also, I don't think the title is a bad thing... It's already been explained to death. Just think of it as Final Fantasy. None of those games have anything to do with each other but they still have the name Final Fantasy, so, you know... That's pretty much the same thing happening with Bioshock.
I still find it odd though cause... Levine says it's a spiritual successor to Bioshock. But Bioshock was a spiritual successor to System Shock. So it would make sense to have given Bioshock: Infinite a different title, right? Since it's a spiritual successor like Bioshock was... and Bioshock is certainly not named System Shock: Bioshock... that just looks and sounds awkward. xD
Yeah it would make sense to call it something else, but it's only a small issue. Perhaps they will make this their "final fantasy" thing from now on; you will always be playing a human with some kinds of modifications so it can fit. It will probably stick better once they release a third different storyline. The first one would perhaps be referred to as Biosock: Rapture, this one Bioshock: Infinte, the next Bioshock: Something something, etc etc
Those heavy hitter units look amazing. props to those guy's imaginations. Also remember, you can create tears to different universes: i'd bet money that they do a cameo of rapture; be it exploring some of it's areas, or bringing in a Big Daddy in the middle of your enemies to cause utter havok. Ahh could you imagine?! xD
Bumping this because after many years.... WE GET BIOSHOCK IN A FEW WEEKS
....unless they become the biggest trolls on the planet and say "just kidding.. Release date is next month" a day before it comes out
March 26th! :3

the cramped spaces of rapture were better than this wide open place
Been playing this game.. Unsure how much longer I have till it ends. However I'll give a few opinions thus far.
1. The story moves too fast. (or at least the dialogue).. Maybe it's my fault because I'm hard of hearing but I needed up put subtitles on and the subtitles are the same from person to person and it also picks up random citizens and moves way to fast for anyone to really read (especially if you are actually doing something the same time someone is talking)
2. I use up way too many salts
3. I love love LOVE the game art in this game.. It's soooooo prettttttttttty *____* The american history in this game is also very interesting.
4. The Vigors are very creative and fun to use. My favorites are the charge and undertow. Perfect combination for close range combat and undertow is easier than sniping. Don't snipe the sniper, bring the sniper to YOU!". You are offered many different weapon choices though you can only carry two at a time.
