Can't remember this certain Anime

All I remember is the plot line because it was so long ago.
The main character has certain 'magical' powers and there was a prophecy made before.
His closest friend and him were destined to fight after the friend's younger sister died.
The main character was given the choice of fighting for good or evil.
Both of these characters I mentioned all have black hair and are at a student age.

Please help me figure out what this anime is...thank you

I think the one you are talking about is called X. My friend told me about it and we tried watching it. I didn't like it, personally. But yeah, just plain X.
