Apocalyptic anime recommendations

Hey all are there any good apocalyptic or post apocalyptic anime that you guys can recommend cus I haven't seen any before so I thought I would give it a try

I don't know any recent ones but there is Neon Genesis Evangelion and Fist of the North Star.

I haven't watched many either so I don't how good they are compared to the best but you might like
Chrome Shelled Regios - Awesome main character when he goes all out and interesting magic system
Desert Punk - Comedy and so far mostly episodic. I really like it though
Deadman Wonderland - Post-apocalyptic setting but I wouldn't consider this too much into that genre

These ones are not exactly worldwide apocalyptic but they have the same elements and are more concentrated more on drama

I loved evangelion. Fist of the north star is great, but the story is very sad.

Trigun's pretty good, Five Star Stories is nice but slow, Appleseed is a great classic (whether 1988, 2005, or Ex-Machina), Trinity Blood is good, and Broken Blade is also good.

Well Blue Gender is often said to be a rippof of ST ( allthough thats not true) so I just had to add that sentence there.

As for ST - yes the Second one was absolutely horrible - the third part was somewhat better but still far from the first one.

Definitely watch Evangelion. Just. When you watch the ending. Prepare yourself. There's 2 actually. I'd say watch both but that's just cause I really like Evangelion. Then you can start watching the rebuild of evnagelion compilation/new story movies with better animation. Those are also awesome. Just a noobies 2 cents.

No. 6. (Not Blue Sub No. 6, just regular No. 6). Best apocalyptic anime I've ever seen.

Also, a good manga I'd recommend is Aphorism, although it is sort of a stretch to put it in the apocalyptic genre. It's also extremely depraved; it freaked me out and I couldn't finish it, but I still liked it.

I'd say highschool of the dead when they expand it again. Trigun is always a blast, as well as Neon genesis. Deadman wonderland is a bit messed up.

You could try Space Runaway Ideon, which was the inspiration for Evangellion.
