I don't know my reason for loving it so I want to know yours.
It's a way of removing yourself from reality.
Adding to what the poster above me said, I also like to admire interesting, well-thought-out plots and/or artwork.
Anime does that to me, more than any other type of animation, that's why I like it.

I love interesting story lines and characters, so that's why I like anime
Wolfie Dango ~*Red*~
Twin sister: Angella_Kagamine
The story: It's amazing how people can think up such plot lines; truly something I've never seen done with regular TV shows. Good anime just grips me in, and I can't help but stay up until 3am finishing off a series that I just can't hit the stop button on.... even though I work at 8am, lol.
The characters: It's easy to fall in love with the main characters; whether it be action, or romance anime, the characters just seem so well portrayed that I actually feel for them in their endevours.
The artwork: Such magnificent detail goes into it.... the good ones anyways.
It seems like the creator can take more liberties and be more creative with anime. Live action (correct terminology?) Stuff is just victim to too many flaws... bad acting, bad set, bad makeup or whatever...
Also, yay for good characters and plot, though that's not really limited to anime ^^
I love the stories and yes it removes me from reality
i like the art style and they get to do so many things u might not get to ever do. Besides, it's really entertaining and it's like a huge revolution for cartoons as some ppl call them. You also get the chance to be creative and when you draw something in anime style you can just be yourself and not be afraid of being judged.

The ability to remove from reality. Giving me some time to day dream and get away from all of the stress of college.

Well, I simply believe what ANIMAX says
"Some stories need to be told...ANIME-STYLE"
and that's why I love anime. it's fun, creative and I have a high respect for those animators. They're talented and gifted. XD
I grew up watching anime and I still enjoy watching it for all the usual reasons (although I've always somewhat preferred manga as a medium, and I used to read light novels a lot more when I was younger), but above all, I watch anime because I enjoy discussing it in depth with other people. In particular, the whole phenomenon of the "otaku culture" in Japan has always fascinated me. I've always retained a sort of belief from my early readings in critical theory that it's in its popular culture and subculture, more than anywhere, where you'll find an honest projection of a particular society's fantasies and fears; in the way it portrays its women (and sexual desirability), for example, or in its characterization of its villains/enemies.
In fact, it may sound strange, but it was in part my interest in philosophy and literary criticism that got me watching anime again in my high school years. That was right around the time when it was becoming increasingly "fashionable" (for want of better word) in certain intellectual circles in Japan for sociologists and cultural theorists to utilize cultural studies and post-modernist theories to critique Japanese society through the perspective of otaku culture, a trend that continues to this day (there's a long history there, but if you're interested in that sort of stuff, Susan J. Napier's book (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime_f...nese_Animation) is probably the best comprehensive guide you can read in English). Like probably a lot of bookish teenagers growing up during that time, I got caught up in the fad, so to speak.

I grew up watching Dragonball Z, so initially i really liked the action aspect. It was very innovative for its time i felt. But now, i really enjoy it a lot for its unique stories and just a means to escape reality. I guess it helps me dream a lot and so helps me think outside the box because of it lol.
it separates me from the normals
Because real life is too darn boring for me.
God, there are tons of reasons... First of all, the feeling it gives me. Whenever I watch anime I feel more creative, inspired, motivated to draw or write, and I'm fascinated by the story lines, by the characters, by all the original and unique powers the fantasy characters are given.
I love anime for the 'graphics', i don't know why but I am attracted to manga like a fly to the light-bulb, hence why I also started drawing, myself.
I love how they wrap-up many aspects of the Japanese culture, from their history to their arts... Anime is really one of the best things that ever happened to me .

Anime girls have big eyes...
As many have said before- The art, the story, the characters...but for me-it's also the cultural background it all came from. I'm not Japanese and so the gigantic differences you see in anime compared to the USA are invigorating and interesting~
It's amazing to see how a different culture views the world and entertainment. =3
How'd You Like That On Your Lawn?!"I may be empty, but I'm not worthless!"
I like Shōnen particularly because people die.
And, however unrealistic anime situations are from real life, when main characters die in an anime, that relates to real life.
And when other characters become stronger through their deaths, instead of mourning, that is something from anime that we should apply to our lives.
Lesser reasons: the art, the humor, characters, hot anime girls, character development, slice of life aspects, hot anime girls, stimulation, etc
Because I'm sick of Hollywood.
I like Anime, but I'm not into it yet.
