A darker pokemon game.

Why isn't there a pokemon game where you can be evil? I would love to be team rocket stealing pokemon or taking over the world.

When I was young I had heard rumor of a Pokemon Black for the GBC. It was supposed to be the same as red/blue until the end of Nugget Bridge when the guy asks you to join Team Rocket. At that point you were given an option. After joining the Rockets you could buy Thief Balls and use them to steal other peoples Pokemon provided you weakened them first. Unfortunately it was just a rumor as the game I saw this on was just a copy of Red with some Gameshark codes and the cart had been sharpied black.

I heard that exact same rumor when I was a kid!

I would love for a darker take on the Pokemon world; I'd be happy even with something that's just a little closer to some of the manga adaptations out there, a few of which got pretty heavy/dark at times for a series that was essentially aimed at children.

Of course, after all these years after the first installment of the series, the chances of that materializing are now pretty slim. I guess it has to do with Nintendo being concerned with their family-friendly image, especially with a game that sells first and foremost to kids.
