Yeah, you need to use Sun Java (or Oracle Java as it's now known...) Unfortunately, my most recent experience with Java in Ubuntu is that Sun has deliberately broken the packages (or at least the browser plugin package), so you will have trouble getting it to work in Firefox(or what browser you do use) without some manual fiddling/Googling. I haven't yet succeeded in getting OpenJDK to work for Chat.

Teaches me for uninstalling Java last weekend, that does. Can't even play Minecraft now. -.-

Ubuntu :3 I happen to use Arch more than Ubuntu.... I found JDK and JRE on the sylar repo. the chat thing will not work with Ubuntu..... but i should check it out on my other computer.....

Chat does work on Ubuntu (I dual-boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu), you just have to install Sun's Java JRE and install the browser plugin package (which tells the browsers that Java's there). Unfortunately, like I said, Sun seem to have deliberately broken the repos so you will probably need to Google on how to manually install the JRE and the plugins. After my failing at updating Firefox (broke Java, had to uninstall and reinstall -_-) I did eventually find a tutorial at manually installing 1.6.30 and that includes the plugin for Firefox so..

That's all I can help with, though. I'm a bit of a Linux noob so I rely a lot on Google for figuring things out.
