So appearently, the North Korean dictator has passed.

The news came in a radio broadcast at noon local time, Yonhap reported, citing North Korea’s official media. Kim probably had a stroke in August 2008 and may have also contracted pancreatic cancer, according to South Korean news reports."

Supposedly his Son my take over, but according to CNN (TV), but the Uncle or another family member may be in power under the Son (Kim Jong Un) that calls the shots, using him as a figure head.

What I wonder is what will happend to Kim's sister, that worked as his right hand? [or do I have that fact wrong?] It can't be that "fun" for her to have been working so hard for her brother, as his right hand, and then his son [the youngest one] will just come and take over instead. But in the same time im not sure that the military leaders in that country will just let the son take over - perhaps there will be fights in the country now over who will get the power?


Another thing about Kim Jong is that he must have been dead for atleast a week or so, if the news about him was realesed today. That's atleast what I think.

And South Korea has mobilized their army, although I doubt they'll attack. Most likely it will just be the same old, with Kim Jong Il's son becoming the next crazy, isolated leader.

I would not be surprised if Jong Un went missing after some point in time. Kim Jong Il has a brother of some sort that heads up the military, and then a brother or b-i-l that heads up the political party. If I remember right, they will be "guiding" junior until he gets the hang of things... As for the sister, I didn't even know there was one. o.0 Kim Jong Il struck me as having the mentality that women should be seen, not heard, and "bare foot & pregnant"...

Perhaps, but I do find it unlikely that any of his other brothers would take over. The older brother tried to go abroad with a false passport, and I think that in those power cirkels that is viewed as kin of bad... and the middle brother has been accused of being a pedophile so... If any of the brothers would become in chargers, I would say it will be the youngest one. If he then won't go "missing" that is...

It's extremely likely that some powerhungry generals will take the power now - even if Koreas television says otherwise.

I meant Kim Jung Sr.'s brother. I highly doubt that Junior's brothers really have all that much interest in "running" the country anyway, they've had WAY more exposure to the Western world than Junior has, which is part of why they think he was chosen. That and he is young, and probably more impressionable than his brothers. He supposedly has a bit of a vicious streak as well, but I heard that his mother was a bit mean herself...

I have thought about that possibility aswell. It could be that they "let him die" because he had started to become weak and old, and therefore needed to be replaced. It's North Korea - we'll never know... But I doubt that it will become better in that country anytime soon, no matter which of the brothers / or some "random" general [don't know so much about the situation there] who will take over... :/

Even if they would be interested, I don't think they would have so much chance of getting the opportunity either. But then more to the reasons that I mentioned before, that they have been exposed in a bad and shameful ways in the media, the youngest one havn't in that way. But that is only my ideas and spekulations on the matter.

North Korea has apparently (or being accused of) secretly developing and/or testing nuclear weapons. Hence why I am so suspicious about this 'death' of their leader (and I daresay most of the US higher-ups will have a similar opinion of the matter.

Uh, no. Although the rest of the world sees Kim as a dictator, he was worshiped like an idol in North Korea. Many North Koreans respected him as their "dear leader", so it would be natural for them to weep so hard at an idol's death. You could say Kim Jong-Il (and his father Kim Il-Sung) had a personality cult sort of thing going on in their life time as the leader of NK.

Well there were reports of him having pancreatic cancer, and supposedly he died of a heart attack.

Now I know that if not caught soon enough Pancreatic Cancer will kill, so I'm not sure when the discovered it and or what treatment they did. But the Heart Attack probably made his death a little easier to deal with for him.

Mac does have a point, we aren't getting this from reliable news sources. We're getting them from reliable news sources that are claiming they're getting this from North Korea themselves. But for right now, it's all we have to even go on.

Who knows, but I'd admit to being a little tense about the current situation even though I'm not in America and not likely to be in the firing line if grozit really does hit the fan.

Hopefully the N.Korea's government will know better ... as will the US government.
