    When it comes to climate change, you only need to worry about greenhouse gasses. Which is primarily methane and CO2. Other environmental effects are unfortunate, but not nearly as critical.

    It is in fact both. But a (scientifically proven) near-linear trend already has long been established between atmospheric CO2 concentration increase and average global temperature increase, which forced significant CO2 emitters (back then) for a protocol--the Kyoto Protocol.

    Primary reason for pulling out is economic security. China and India, which have recently been developing economically, were not industrialized at the time of the negotiation of the protocol, therefore, the Kyoto Protocol indeed just needs to be updated/revised.

    The law must apply to all, otherwise none at all.
