In college dorm rooms, as far as decorations are concerned, as long as its not on fire, almost anything goes. There was a guy a few doors down from me who had some half-naked chicks on his wall and one of my friends has a life size Jason statue with a gay pride flag in one hand (he's a gay horror movie buff).

However, a Black University of South Carolina student decided to hang the Confederate flag hanging in his window. This of course sparked some controversy, with people taking offense to the flag. The school told him that it was inappropriate, that it went against their non-discrimination clause, and told him to take it down. After he defended his point on YouTube and on blogs, the school reversed their decision and allowed him to hang the flag back up again under free speech grounds (there are still some people on campus who are still pissed about the flag and while his family supports his overall ideals, they don't agree with his hanging of the flag).

The reason that he wanted to hang it was because he believed that the flag was a symbol of Southern Pride and "state's rights", not slavery and racism.

So what do y'all think?

Although, despite their permission, he has decided not to hang it up since "the fight is not over".
