I'm a 19 year old girl.... I felt like a creepo when I was in a fastfood restaurant with my bf and I saw a little girl with a my little pony toy... I proceeded to say out loud to my BF "OH! She has a my little pony toy! That reminds me, a new episode should be out now....." The girl was looking at me :/

I watch with my little sister too, but I daresay I'm a bigger fan than she is. I also watch eps alone sometimes but we always watch the latest one together first

I know that this is horrible to say in the presence of so many fans, xD but I just can't stand the show!! I like the memes and comics about it but; I don't like the cartoon itself. I don't like the humor in it and I hate and despise the way it's drawn. I think it's aweful.

What can I say?

IM A FAN OF THE OLD MY LITTLE PONY SHOWS!!! The ones from the 80s and 90s (spec the 90s.... prrrr....~~), those I totally approve of - but this?? No no no no... aint gonna happen. I tried to watch some episodes of it when it was new but gave up almost immediately - this new version just isn't my cup of tea.

I may appear to be the world's biggest idiot now, but I must admit that since I wrote my last post (# 37) I have not really been able to stop thinking about my thoughts and reflections of this show. I mean ... I think, deep down, that I actually would be able to enjoy and really like this show. I really enjoy some "meme"pictures taken from this show

 

and I, to be brutal honest, actually think that some of the clips you've posted here has been really funny! Some even great! (like the video that was posted right before, when that pony screamed for help and then the other one came in - just to pick up a flute and then leave again: I actually laughed to that one!) But ... Oh I don't know ... it's just the way it looks visually that bothers me sooo much! I just don't like how it looks. About the show I think some of it seems like fun, other thing doesn't seem so fun, others do, but I don't like how it looks and Gaaaaooouuaghghgaoouiuhjajaj!!!!! I must look like the biggest idiot even for writing in this thread again but... hahaha! xD I guess I just don't have anything better to do right now [my help wasn't needed in the kitchen... My cooking isn't approved]. xD

WHY do it bothers me so much how they look, how the world around them looks like, how they "move" and blah blah blah... and... well pretty much everything irritates me really (I'm so darn sensitive sometimes... durp).. So really - WHY so sensitive? Well let me tell you the answer to that; MY CHILDHOOD!!. It-just-doesn't-look-like-the-old-versions! And that bugs, bugs, bugs me!





I guess I was waaaay and too over the top and into the old my little ponies-series when I was a kid
(lots of movies, clothes, toys - you name it I had it all!! [or atleast alot of it].

Come on; my inner (and darn sensitive) childhood memories are challenging you guys (and girls) to a fierce duel!! Win me over, make me take the bull in the horn and actually sit down and try to watch some more episodes of this show!! MAKE ME FORCE MYSELF!! I really don't like being this blasted sensitive about how series looks like visiually [are other shows then this one that I have refused to watch just because of the reason that I don't like how it looks...] so you really could help me out on this one and "cure me". xD

So post more videos and pictures and God knows what... - just win me over!!

Heh, I think I am at the denial stage of my interest in the show right now O_o; but I figure if it can get me to keep watching it, there's bound to be a tipping point for you as well.
I had that issue with the new Star Trek movie, being a big trek fan, and having seen all of the original series, that the new one seemed hard to take just because it was new, with new actors taking up the roles that I've known for most of my life. I guess being a scifi fan, I am used to alternate unverses, and taking stuff on its own merits, without comparing it to the original until I've given it a chance first. Same with movies made from books that I like.

Hahah! So we are almost at the same level then? xD I know exactly what you are talking about, that's why Im currently feel so frustrated about all this. Because I know that if I sit down and really, really force myself to watch some more episodes of that show (instead of just a few) I will get into the show and then like it -or atelast that's what Im thinking right now. But, im just not there yet. Im not sure if it sounds silly or not, but right now I just can't make myself to click on the "watch" button. I think that, anyhow according to how I am right now, that people really need to force me into watching it - or else I don't think I ever will.


Still, I really do miss the old versions G1-G2... sigh. Aaaaaawwww childhood memories ~

You're not watching it because you're scared you won't like it, huh? Don't worry, it'll grow on you. It's not worse (better is debateable but for the sake of the argument I won't go into that), just different. It's cute, it's fun, it has its own fair share of epic adventures (but sadly not as many as G1 from what I remember) and you probably won't regret taking the time to aquire the taste if you really like the brand.

Personally I didn't like the '90s episodes. Really I only liked the first season of the original series; and the specials. Honestly, I was kinda avoiding Friendship is Magic at first, myself, after I had been disappointed by what we've been receiving, but I decided 'what the heck' cause I was bored and LOVED IT. Still, though, I'd get this from the original series...

...in my head all the time. Since I used to spam-watch that special all the time. Why? the villain was a cat-woman.

My favorite, still, of all My Little Pony shows is the original pilot episode Rescue at Midnight Castle...

...and if I can love such a drastic change in a show, then I think anyone can... 'cause, seriously... Midnight Castle was a VERY dark episode to lead to such cutsyness that followed.

Anyway, I think Fluttershy says it best so here she is:
