I only listen to Japanese, Korean and Australian music mostly. ;p
But I do love vocaloid and their producers because most of them are doujin artists and I greatly respect doujin artists. They try hard to get popular, they are different and their lyrics and music are separate from the kind you hear on radio. It's not always very popular, sometimes people sing off-key or tune their instruments funny, but they are creative and they're trying. I want to be like that. ^///^

Ok I don't know much about Volcaloid. I watched Hatsune Miku live in Tokyo and thought it was awesome, but I still don't really GET IT. I understand hey they use samples to make her voice, but who writes the songs? It's all very new to me...

Well, here is how it works. Each Vocaloid has their own voice bank which people use to make them sing. Like you said, you understand that already so I won't delve deep into that. But the people who write the songs are the people who buy the vocaloid programs. That can be anyone from that mean lunch lady at school to a college student in Japan! It could even be you! The fans of vocaloid create the music we all love. There are way too many people to even begin listing, obviously. But I hope that clears things up for you.

I guess you guys already picked up on the fact that I love Vocaloid. Especially Kamui Gakupo and Luka Megurine! Not just as a pair but by themselves as well.

Not sure about that, but I know that I like them because of the lyrics. ...Granted I have to find a song with english subs on youtube.

That being said, I learned to never trust the Kagamine twins on Halloween.

This is probably because whomever made that specific song did not know how to use the vocaloid correctly or used one of the older vocaloids. They could've been new to the vocaloid's program, as well. But if you keep looking around I know that Miku, Len, and Rin have updated voice banks called append. I have found songs that use their append voice banks so well I forgot they were programs! It's amazing, really, what people are doing with technology these days.

As Miss Manipulation said, it was the person controlling the Vocaloids. There are literally millions of Vocaloid songs, there are a lot of choices in voices too, I recommend you look up the songs Hurting For A Very Hurtful Pain or Matryoshka, those seem to be the most addicting Vocaloid songs for anyone.

Like @Xey Oiz and @Miss Manipulation said. It all depends on the user. There are some nice ones out there if you dig around. Not sure what your taste in music is but the pitch is based on the user. For Example:

Volcaloid is for people who can't fathom talent in music. Lady Gaga is a very talented woman who also is active in world issues. Volcaloid is just a fancy version of Fruity Loops.

My favorite Vocaloid is Yowane Haku. She's a tragic, broken-hearted figure that needs a little love and attention to work her way into your heart.

If the Vocaloid Company, and I call them that because I don't know their real name, wants to make a mint, they'll release a Yowane Haku vocaloid in America.
