Will Obama be pres?

Seems like lately Obama has lost MAJOR steam, but maybe he could gain it back. Simple question, do you think Obama will pull it off next year or do you think our fellow president will be unemployed come 2012? Why?

He'll probably win, as long as the Republicans stay in love with far-right insane asylum inmates like Rick Parry, Caribou Barbie, and Bachman they don't have much of a chance winning with moderate voters. All Obama has to do is convince people that all the fiscal problems are largely because the last session of congress is of the do-nothing variety, which has the advantage of being completely true. That said, congressionally I see the Dem/Repub split staying about the same so unless the Republicans learn to compromise expect another do-nothing congress for 2012-14

even though obama's poll number are a tad slipping lately, the congress is MUCH more hated right now. I think it's like.. only 12% of americans approve of the current congress right now. Rick Perry may rally the extreme right, but most independants agree with obama on a lot of issue, (such as including both spending cuts and revenue increases in a budget proposal, etc).

so, yeah, I'm pretty optimistic that obama will have a good enough track record and his jobs bill will spur enough growth to make him warm and fuzzy again.

It will depend on who is running against him. There's a strong sentiment on the left that Obama has not pulled his weight as President, and a very strong sentiment on the right that he's too far left and is wreaking havoc on the country. A far-right candidate like Bachmann won't win against him, same with Perry. A more moderate conservative would have a good chance of winning - Ron Paul would get the conservative base vote if he were pitted against Obama, as well as a large portion of the independent vote and a decent amount of liberal voters. Mitt Romney would have a chance, but I don't think he'll make it through the primary.

All in all, the majority of the people that voted for Obama last time are going to vote for him again once he's pitted against Perry or Bachmann, who are too far to the right for any leftist voters to support. I'll end up voting for him if either of those two gets the nomination, somewhat as the lesser of two evils.

Ideally I'd see Gary Johnson running against Obama in the election, he being the only GOP contender I'm willing to get behind, but he's too far of a long shot.

After the 2004 election, I've learned to start with negative/pessimistic expectations.
So no, I expect Obama to lose, so that if he wins I'll be in for a pleasant surprise.
And I only want him to win because Perry and Bachman scare me.
