I figured it's about time I made an opinions/suggestions thread, which will also serve as a place to discuss Photography Forum related matters. If you have a question/comment/concern/suggestion or anything else pertaining to the Photography Section, feel free to post it here.

Keep in mind this is NOT the place to ask for camera specs/suggestions and other such matters, it's purely for things that relate to the forum.

I really hate it when people start thread for ONE picture, and leave it like that, not coming back with more pictures. And most of the times it's a crappy picture too. :/

But I know there's not much you can do about it, you can't impose people to have a certain minimum of pictures to open a thread. Same issue is in the fanart section, only worse. It's full of one-drawing threads. People make one "drawing"( I won't name that scribble a drawing ) and make a bloody thread for it, then the WHOLE forum is full of threads with one drawing in them. Cool story, bro. And people like me are affected, because I used to post there often. Now I stopped, because of that reason.

Yeah, it makes you sad and me frustrated. I mean, when I have my thread put down to the bottom in less than a day by these people that scratch the paper with a pen once in their lifetime and call it "art". In case you haven't noticed, 80% of the threads have the word "art" in their composition, which is blasphemy.
It's not that they open multiple threads, but if you stay to look a little you'll see that a lot of these people that open a thread with one crappy drawing are users that don't even come around the forum :| Their only post is that one thread. Well I'm not sure how this issue can be solved, or if it can, but I was just saying.

But there's always this question that's always bugging me. There are always threads in the photography section, but whenever there's a contest, we barely get 5 entries. How is that happening? I think that many people that open a thread here don't even have photography as a hobby. They take 3 pictures once a year and open a thread. I'm not saying everyone should own a professional camera and skills, but still.

It's meant to be one theme, one thread. Unfortunately, that usually results in one pic threads.

Yeah I know, that's why I said I can't blame you for it. However you can do something similar to Loki's idea, and only allow people to start a thread after a minimum number of posts. That way we don't get so much spammers

I'll take it into consideration, I don't think it's too much of a problem at this stage.

The primary issues is, i guess that its hard to add photos, or drawings to a thread later, and if you want to follow someones art, its hard to keep track of updates, and you don't know if something new was added or not.

This is a good point. Also from the thread starters view, having too many pieces in one thread means people might only focus on a few works and you don't quite get proper feedback.

To the peep Ira in regards to the whole one pic thread I must confess I am guilty of this crime however I consider myself to be an exception for two reasons.

First most of the pics I amke are creative nudes which I had intended to upload but saw in the rules nudity was not allowed, so I PMed a mod' to ask if any creative, traditional and non pornographic nudes were allowed but that was ages ago and I still have no reply. So I can't upload alot of my stuff.

Second I noticed the competition thread a few weeks ago and have been working on an entry so I have been busy.

Point is cconsider peoples reasons I have seen a lot of peoples threads with just one or two pics in and maybe they are just taking the piss or maybe they have legit reasons to why they have not posted.
