Ask for kale. It's almost the same thing and somewhat more common. Or ask for 'something like kale' but don't be disappointed if they give you endive or some other malarkey.

Tons of people in the southeastern US.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collard_greens

It IS similar to spinach in that it is a grean leafy vegetable. It is related to broccoli, but broccoli is much different. You might also ask for kale, mustard greens, or swiss chard.

You may need to look in the canned goods aisle, according to my link they may not grow in your location. Be advised that canned greens are kind of gross.

Why do need them? Or are you just curious?

If you're cooking them as a dish on their own, they're nice simmered with white wine, garlic, shallots, and bacon. I like to add the bacon when it's crisp, and also the fat, because that's how us rednecks do things. When I say bacon, I mean the crispy strips of fatty goodness that Americans eat. If you use a different style, you could add butter in place of the extra meat fat.

    - and hopefully alot of other people?
Vegetables are good for you, why not eating them?
If you are oversensitive about food there are alot of different vegetables in this world that you can choose from.
Different asian wooking dishes is a great way to eat some extra vegetables, or mixing in sliced carrots in your minced meat. If you do that you actually don't taste the carrots, the meat saus just becomes more juicy. Or why not baking in those carrots in your daily bread?

And yeah... Im not from an english speaking country myself and I have never heard the word "collard greens" before either.
But now I have so thank you all for the lesson.

^ Omg that looks so good, seriously.. I prefer to eat veggies instead of the animals as much as I can.. If you can find a few collard green plants at a nursery, they're super easy to grow. You just plant them in the ground and they grow pretty hartily. They're a superfood packed with tons of vitamins! When I can't get it we use kale. Mmm. :3
