    Default Obama announces bio-fuels initiative

President Obama recently announced a major initiative supporting the advancement of biofuels in the United States. The President stated that the United States Department of Agriculture, Department of Energy, and the Navy will invest around $510 million over the next three years.

The President stated the action would be a major step towards reducing our dependence on foreign oil while increasing jobs in the United States, two contentious issues debated in Washington. The President put the onus on the government and the private sector, making it clear that any success in the creating of next-generation biofuels will require partnerships between the two entities.

Indeed we are; and yet saying and doing are two entirely different things.

Does that mean that people who make cheaper fuels won't be silenced and hung anymore? Too late anyway, Oxford already developed synthetic fuel, only nobody wants to hear them out.
Also, this is nothing! Obama's still a jackass. A real step to progress would be to release the hydrogen cars or at least stop persecuting the people who invent and use them. But hey, why drive around for free when you can drive around for cheap?

Makes sense. Hate to be the guy still dependent on oil now that supply is starting to fall below demand.

    quite the opposite.

he's being a pushover to get re-elected. once he is, since he doesn't have to worry about being elected again, he can really start to dig in his heels.

Actually I dissagree from an outsider viewpoint he has begun to revolutionise America's outlook on the world. He is actually starting to make america look more modern rather than sticking to how us British had our own Imperialism viewpoints on the world and under previous presidents that was what america viewed itself as the only great nation in the world. I mean he wants to take away the right to bear arms, I reckon that is a huge leap foward as many countries in today's world has banned them. Its not neccessary to carry a firearm everywhere you go because otherwise you'll find that once a person has a pistol the police have bulletproof armour, people get armour piercing rounds the police then up their offensive power......and the cycle will continue to rise costing the country billions when all it needs to do is make sure the police do their job properly and take away guns from civilians. In the long run it'll be cheaper for the tax payer as well.

America has a looooong way to go before it catches up with the rest of the world but to be fair the US is a young nation compared to others like Italy, China, Germany, UK just to name a few. But it is now finally approaching maturity at last with Obhama's leadership and as far as I can tell if the Republicans gain power again then well we'll see more blunders made like under George W. Bush.

@aether No offense but you don't live here. As such you don't know the effects of legislation passed under him. Under him legislation has passed that takes from the middle class and poor and gives to the rich. He's done nothing for jobs. You could argue the recent legislation he's trying to pass but that'll last through elections and then we're right back here. Even that legislation is bad since it give massive tax cuts that have been proven not to work in the past and all it does it put more money in the pockets of the rich. So we get screwed, people like me can't find jobs because the government wont create them. They wont do what's needed because the Democrats cave to the Republicans and because of that the rich benefit while the rest suffer. So sorry if I laugh at the notion that Obama is a leader. He's all talk.

As for gun control you can find my thoughts here. Short version, banning guns doesn't work. In fact increasing the number of guns in the hands of private citizens has been shown to reduce crime rates. Criminals don't get guns legally and as such a ban wouldn't prevent them from getting them as they'll be smuggled in.

Thing is though crime only goes down because everyone becomes paranoid of each other and is that really that good?

To be honest people in all countries expect the government to create more jobs but really the government can only create those jobs within a governmental sector and that may create extra red tape that isn't neccessary. If you want to blame lack the lack of jobs blame the private sector as they're the ones who create the jobs but then again you can further the blame down to the consumer as they're spending less forcing them to close which has a knock on effect. What you need to do is set up 1 large factory producing something large and then from that 1 factory multiple smaller factories and suppliers will develope to help support the manufacturing of that 1 large factory. The people they employ will have more money in which they can spend on more luxury goods therefor the cycle of capitalism can get going again. All the government can do is basically lower taxes but then people complain about that will mean less money for the government to use. But in theory if you have lower tax rates then you'll encourage growth.

Has nothing to do with paranoia but the thought that you don't know who is armed and who isn't and as such a criminal would be hesitant to try anything.

And, it's the government's responsibility to create job growth in there country. Instead everything's being outsourced and companies are saying if you don't have a job don't bother applying. How is that the consumers fault? They don't spend because there taxes are raise, there benefits cut and the cost of living continues to rise. We can't keep up. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. We can't go on like this and the government refuses to do anything about it. It'd take drastic action and the Republicans don't care and as such neither do the Democrats since they're just lapdogs to the Republicans. Our government doesn't listen to its people and as such it functions not in our interest but in the interest of the top two percent and massive corporations. As for your factory suggestion, sorry but consider that outsourced to places like China and India. And how can we afford luxury goods when we can barely afford to put food on the table and pay for things like utilities. People are in so much debt just to keep up with the standard of living that they will never see the end of the tunnel. And they do lower taxes but only for the rich. The rest of us get our taxes raised. In fact if they do supposedly raise taxes for the rich they leave so many loopholes that it might as well be swiss cheese. So I ask you where's our leader? Where's Obama? He's lapping at the heels of people like John Boehner.

The thing is outsourcing helps companies to grow and to help LEDCs (Less Economicaly Developed Countries) grow and therefor drives the economic market more competitive. Its the capitalist way, why pay a higher standard wage when you can pay slave wages and get about 20 people for every 1 person in the campany's home country? Plus outsourcing companies can take the profits back to the home region and invest it there so really theres nothing wrong with outsourcing.

The problem with saying about people with debt is that sometimes its the people's fault in the first place. They still live in times when things were better and they don't adjust their lifestyle and then boom they're swimming in debt.

Yes it does, but it also harms the countries from which those jobs are outsourced. As we're seeing now in the US. And the companies don't invest it. The people running the company just give themselves huge bonuses. Not to mention they keep the money in offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes on them. So, how is outsourcing helping our country? It's not. All it's doing is taking the jobs we need. Nearly ten percent of the country is unable to find work. How is that our fault? We can't do anything about it. And this is all while some companies have used loopholes to get tax refunds without paying any taxes. Essentially stealing money from taxpayers.

Not always. Look at people who go to college. they could wind up with 200k plus debt from that alone. Then there's car payments, potential hospital bills, etc. Only thing they can be held accountable for is credit cards. But that's a small part of a bigger problem.
