I can understand where you're coming from with this, because there were some huuuuuge differences between the manga and anime, but differences like that always happen :/ Just because a few things were changed doesn't mean the entire series needs to be rewritten.

I happen to like both the anime and manga. The only thing I'd want done differently is the anime continued to cover the whole manga. It truly is annoying that they never finished it.

I only watched the anime so I'm not sure. I was aware that it's different from the manga, but looks like most people are saying no. I don't particularly like FMA Brotherhood so I doubt Fruits Basket would be any better if it were remade.

Princess cupcake, I would recommend for you to read the manga. I fell in love with the amine, but the story of the manga I loved even more. It really is the complete story and for me it is a true inspiration.
