So I moved to Japan to study Japanese for a year. Currently attending a language school in central Tokyo. Of course, I'm placed in a way too difficult class for some reason, and I end up embarrassing myself over and over again for about a week before finally switching to an easier class. However IT WAS ****ING WORTH IT.
Because of HER. Jesus Christ, HER. She was my conversation partner during one exercise in class, and I was completely blown out of my mind. She has got to be the cutest damn thing in the universe! I didn't really want to switch class, but I just couldn't keep up and would just have ended up repeating the class and wasting 3 months. And there it was.

Jesus H. Christ. She said that TO ME. So I somehow managed to get her Skype name and we chat a few times a week, usually in the evening. I also meet her at school during breaks sometimes. But GOD, she is so... GNNNNjakshdkajsgdlakshdl!!!!!!!!! I don't know what to do!!! There are so many problems with EVERYTHING!

I'm a huge frelling nerd. I'm a hobby GAME PROGRAMMER goddamn it. I've watched more anime than I can remember. I've played numerous H-games. Heck, I LOOK like a ****ing otaku; glasses, skinny as hell, not really good looks..... 50% of my Japanese is from animes. Somewhat fortunately she is also interested in anime at least. I've watched every anime she's even mentioned within a day or two.

It feels like she keeps on teasing me. Remember the thread title? When we chat on Skype, she keeps on saying... interesting things. When I told her about my non-existent sleep habits, she called me a vampire and then asked me to bite her. Then she said she was going to shower and logged out, leaving me completely dead with those mental images. She's been saying things like this for almost a month now!

She has a boyfriend. Yes, no kidding. God, I've heard stories about them on the bus to Mount Fuji (I was on another bus, because I switched classes, thank God?). Should I still confess if I managed to gather the courage to do so? She would obviously turn me down, and in the worst case feel guilty for me. I definitely don't want that. Should I just stay quiet and "hope" they split up? I already feel like a hypocrite. I basically wish for her to be hurt as I don't think she would be unhurt by a breakup. And making a move too soon seems like a damn bad idea. I haven't even had the willpower to actually see how close they are...

It's summer holiday right now, and I've been asked to come with her and her friends (and almost certainly her boyfriend) to an amusement park (Fuji-Q). How should I interpret that?! That she's interested in me or just see me as a "no threat" friend? It just seems so... early? I don't meet her that often, but she still invited me to something like that... So confused...

What the hell do I do? Keeping up this wonderful/painful waiting or try to do something?

Uh, no, I really am. I've "waited" for a month already. It's not really like I'm about to explode. It's just that I HAVE thought about it (well, duh?) and I'm not even close to a solution. It feels like I can't really do anything about anything right now...

Epic motivational post! Ahahahahaha! Yeah, there sure were lots of changes. But anyways, I'll just have to wait and see what happens. At least until after the summer holidays, then I'll try to figure things out again...

Allow me to summarize the predicament of our friend here.

He's apparently in Japan to study the Japanese language. One day, during conversation exercises, he meets this really cute chick who, despite the fact that he is a skinny, glasses-wearing, human version of Comic-Con, asks if he would like to study with her (or something). They chat it up on Skype and meet each other occasionally. So he's attracted to her.

However, she apparently has a boyfriend. She and her boyfriend have been on trips together, so it appears to be rather serious (although he doesn't know the true extent of their relationship), but her actions toward him makes him think that she is teasing him or leading him on (saying that he's a vampire and that he should bite her, telling him that she's going to take a shower and abruptly ending the chat).

Now it's the summer holiday and she and her friends (most likely including her boyfriend) are inviting him on a trip to an amusement park and he doesn't know how to interpret this action (whether she's seriously into him or just treating him like a friend). So he wants to know from us whether he should watch how things turn out between her and her boyfriend or "try something".

 

Of course, AF veterans know that it's unwise to ask for relationship advise here.

Your problem is clear enough (god knows I've been there before); what is unclear is exactly what you want random strangers on the Internet who don't know anything about you to do or say about your personal issues, especially as you have already said yourself that there is nothing you feel you can do about it. If this is all just a way to vent your angst under the veneer of a discussion then it might as well go on your blog.

 

Feh. That said, seeing as I've posted, I feel obliged to give my two cents. One, some people like to screw with your head like that, it means exactly nothing at all and one should try to keep that in mind; and two, try watching more pornography. It tends to make you think clearer.

Serious Answer: Treat her as a friend and go on the trip, if she likes you then the boyfriend issue will resolve itself (ie she dumps him), if not then you've still got a good friend.

Well, considering your situation, you could just make an anime or a manga. And show it to her. And... I dunno, that was a terrible but awesome advice.

What you SHOULD do... is completely up to you. I agree with be her friend, and if something... develops, she'll just dump her boyfriend.

And if all else fails, you still have the early drafts to a brand new anime. (I want royalities.)

Were you chatting in Japanese? If you were, then you might have just interpreted what she said wrong. Japanese is a very subtle language so what might have sounded meaningless to her could have come across as meaning more than it should have to you.

4. Making an anime or manga has to be the best idea evarrrr, but I can't draw at all.
5. About the Japanese stuff: We both attend a Japanese language school. She's Chinese, and even though she's one class above me I don't think we're that good at Japanese yet... Still worth considering. (THANKS FOR THE DOUBT A**HOLE xD)
