    Default Captain America

    I liked this movie.
Fun, colorful, big, epic, fast-paced, and easy to get into. It starts to tie all the other Marvel movies together for The Avengers. And it does it well.
I've heard it compared to Indiana Jones, I feel that's a good thing. It has the ancient mythology elements and that classical 40s action movie flavors mashed up.
Not to mention, Megatron and Agent Smith are The Red Skull. That's awesome.

I personally would have liked a bit more out of the female lead. She had room for more. Partially because she did well here, and partially because she's really pretty.

Did you see it? Did you like it?
Is there a topic about this that I couldn't find by searching?

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't mind blowing or anything. I'll be happy to see Avengers finally come out.

If it is not mind blowing, I'm not going to go see it in theaters.

I can wait for this to come out on DVD.

I just saw it today and LOVED it!
The one problem I had with it was his "ragtag group of heroes" had almost no character development and were just sort of stock characters, as well as the end of the second act being very rushed.
I thought the rest was fantastic and I bawled at the end :3
I also loved the Avengers trailer

Anyway, I'd say this is probably the best hero movie of the year, closely followed by X-Men: First Class, and arguably one of Marvel's best superhero movies ever. (X2 might be better)

It was a good movie. Not great though. I was more impressed with X-Men First Class and even Thor. If anything, I'm more curious about The Avenger's movie more than anything.

They need a better actor than Chris Evans, the guy is so blah. He just plays a boring character. Jones was amazing as well as Weaving, and the lady person wasn't too bad either. It was an okay film, I do prefer Thor though~

I refuse to watch the movie because the creators edited Captain America's costume from its original red-white-and-blue-flaunting design to a much duller blue-based set of clothes because 'it would offend people' otherwise. Also, the movie is filmed in some countries with Captain America in plain black without any colors.

Sorry to sound overkill, but the premise of cutting on America is really getting old for me.

I didn't feel it was too dully colored. It's pretty bright, it's just that the american poster is all "gritty" and dulls the color scheme. He's really bright blue on the international poster and in the movie.

I don't think it was unpatriotic.

Well, the single color is dull for the red-white-and-blue costume he originally had 'twas all. We differ there because I'm admittedly paranoid when things like this happen.

It was certainly not "cutting on America." The colors were quite bright in the movie, and any dulling of them was from, you know, being in the middle of a giant explosion, where you might get some dust on you.

Updating superhero costumes is something very commonly done in the movies (for example the X-Men franchise used something more akin to Morrison's New X-Men then the classic X-Men costumes, and the recent Green Lantern movie made the outfits look more like a 'second skinn' than a latex bodysuit.)

Another good example is Iron Man. They jumped almost right into his Extremis armor, as it's very recent in the comics.

As far as Captain America himself goes; I don't think his outfit was untrue to the character at all. They put far more effort into the shield, and I felt that the creators did a great job at bringing importance to it.

Also, the movie itself is pretty patriotic, don't really get the argument there. o.o

I just remember reading an interview where someone who had influence over the decision to change the costume and its design saying it was done the way it was 'to avoid offending' anyone, or something to that affect (the word used may have been 'inflaming'). I can cite the brown used in the costume to add onto this.

Regardless, I don't want my missing the movie to cause any trouble amongst you people, seeing as though I can't prove that interview ever even happened (can't find the source). If you enjoyed the movie, good. I saw the changes as cowardly in light of the interview.

Ah, yes in that case I do see your point.
I don't, however, think it takes much away from the movie, and I can say I was proud to be an american watching that movie.

Goku, Sailor Moon, Captain Falcon, and Chuck Norris each have the power to SINGLE HANDEDLY own Captain America in battle. Sorry, but it's true.

Everyone but Sailor Moon. SM's power can only work against evil. Like how I turned your borderline-spammage into an actual discussion? Hah

Actually she only CHOOSES to use it against evil, because she is good. The only attack of hers that can only be used against evil is Moon Healing Escalation, as it SPECIFICALLY is designed to heal people from their afliction which had been caused by an evil spell being cast, and destroy evil spirits. ALL of her other attacks (Tiara Magic, Scepter Elimination, etc) are pretty much standard offensive attacks, like laser weapons, and they could harm those who are evil as well as those who are good. In fact in one episode she had to call back her Tiara/boomerang because it would have struck a civilian otherwise (Molly was standing in front of Nephrite at the time, and guess what Nephrite was the intended target). If it was an attack which could ONLY harm evil, it would have passed harmlessly through Molly, and struck down Nephrite. But that wasn't the case, thus Sailor Moon had to call back her boomerang attack in order to save Molly's life. Proof right there that if she had somehow fallen to the "dark side" that she could easilly use the large majority of her standard attacks in order to kill the good guys.

IIRC she also used her tiara against someone who was taken over by evil to cleanse them and return them to their original form. I can't remember which episode, but this was pretty early on int he series. If the attack really was just a standard offensive attack, wouldn't this hurt both parties and not just the evil?

If this is true then why did she have to call off her attack to save Molly in that other episode? If what you say is true, wouldn't her attack have just passed right through Molly harmlessly like a phantom, until it reached its target?

Here's what I believe what happened in the episode you are referring to. The badguy's presence possessing the good guy somehow shielded the good guy from the attack. Not so though if that person was just themself. In that case they'd be hurt by the attack.

It's all assumption though. I mean, I wouldn't have a solid defense with your Molly argument, but if you want me to pull something out of my buttocks, then I can do that too. SM could have just not wanted to hit Molly with the tiara, an actual item. The power surrounding the tiara would not affect Molly since it can only harm evil, but the tiara itself would hurt her. I mean, she could hit anyone with her rod/makeup kit, or whatever else SM has, since they are actual items but the power behind it wouldn't affect anything but evil. Something like that?

Looked a bit more scared than "Oh no that might hurt". All 3 of the first senshi (if I recall correctly) were there and they all 3 looked scared, like really scared. I was like if someone from Startrek just took a phaser set at full-kill and pointed it at Molly. Yeah, I think the plasma energy or whatever around her glowing Tiara would have fried both Molly and Nephrite in one shot if she hadn't called it back.
