Most of Studio Ghibli's movies have some big message hidden in them, usually about preserving mother nature or not polluting or something. Well, a little while ago I watched My Neighbor Totoro with some friends. We couldn't figure out what the message behind it was, so we looked it up, and every source said it was about a rape and murder case from the 60s. It did have some strong evidence in its favor for the claim, but I still don't buy it. So, what do all of you think is the message behind My Neighbor Totoro?
