Default RPG: Laser Train of DOOM!

In the distant future mankind has colonized a number of other planets. To keep in contact and to keep trade routes steady large tracks were constructed between the planets. Every month intergalactic trains travel across these laser tracks from one planet to another.
These journeys are not always safe however. Due to budget costs there is very little security on the trains and dangers are always lurking in deep space. Space bandits riding robot ponies are known to raid trains. Infection is also known to break out on long journeys with no cure. Despite these dangers there is much money to be had in new colonies and temptations of wealth or simple escapism for the troubles on Earth outweigh the risks these journeys pose.

Welcome one and all to the Laser Train of Doom. You, the player, will embark on an epic quest of adventure and discovery upon a train(so not that epic, and really not that much to explore). If you have not already done so please make a character in the sign up thread(even if you're not intending to play, I can steal your character and us it as an npc).
Once your character is made I'll pm you where you can start role playing on the train. To get an idea of the different parts of the train see the map attached to this post. Once you have your location you're free to start wrecking havoc, rocking out, making tea or whatever it is you crazy adventurers do. Simply post where you're starting and get role playing.

Just a reminder there is a dice mechanic in the game. You needn't worry too much about it, simply role play away and I'll roll where appropriate. Enjoy.

LOCATION- Coach, right before the Second Class area.

"HELLOOOO NEO-CLEVELAND!" An amplified voice rang out from the center of an alabaster stage, lights surrounding this feminine figure of staunch resolve with her shining axe in hand. A few chords rung by and the crowd rang out with torrents of vocal wavelengths, desires and admiration, support and posturing. The center female figure's bright red-orange hair covered her face as she looked down for a few moments, almost as though she were mourning for a lost lover. But it was not a lover that was lost, but a long traveled road that was now to be absconded, not by choice- but by fate.

"I regrettably must inform you, our gracious fans, that this will be our final concert on our world tour!" She proclaimed this verdict with a sturdy voice, only the slightest notion of disappointment- or perhaps sorrow rang true with it's sound. The crowd responded with a less excited but still heartfelt sound of admiration, the mourning of a rock-star who was doomed to leave the limelight. "No regrets!" which ironically was the title of the song they were to play to open this phantastic show, "We'll make this a night for every one to remember! As long as our music is in your mind our rhythm and souls will always be such near you- Juxtaposed!"

The sound of riffs rolling along from the female's fingers started to soar away into the white night distance, the light of the train's ceiling was the herald of the now, and the harrier of the past cutting away the connections she was making in REM sleep. Her baseball cap had almost covered her nose, and just as well she almost slipped from her seat in the Coach of the train. The riffs were becoming overwhelmed by the sounds of children and adults conversing and playing, and her ruby eyes filled with the sights of those around her. Her lips pursed some before she'd sigh gently.

Cassandra's head turned to the window on her left, and her eyes settled upon the distant background of deep space. It was a wonder how they could make tracks out of light- but than again she could make hearts burn with music... Even if it was a long time ago. Her nostalgia was like a torch in the night, standing out from her curvy form in a similar manner- her palm tucked under her chin.

She remained silent for that time.

Perhaps the world was never meant to make perfect sense.

    Location: Second Class

Stretching out as much as possible in his compartment in second class, Miles found that his mind seemed to be racing faster than the train.

I’ve really done it this time…leaving Earth? Couldn’t I have simply found another loan company to work for? A corporate panel that didn’t ask me to break into homes and businesses to repossess defaulted property? Why did I jump the gun and leave for the colonies?

Miles had quelled these excuses long before his final decision to leave Earth, but his nostalgia and homesickness brought the questions back with a vengeance. Though he had an adequate savings account, he bought second class tickets in order to save a bit of money to live off when he finally arrived at his destination.

Though he was rethinking his decision to leave for the colonies, he was nevertheless thoroughly disillusioned with his former line of business. Seeing children’s play equipment around the home of one of the customers who had defaulted and was thus under threat of repossession was the final straw. There was no way he could take from a home with children in it, no matter how “legal” of an act it was.

Instinctively, Miles studied the interior of the second class compartment of the train. Not much room, and security seemed somewhat light. No, Miles; those days are long gone. In the colonies you’ll find a way to use your skills for the benefit of more than just a bloodthirsty corporate suit.

That thought served to put him at relative ease, but it was soon followed by one that was more troublesome. I did read about a terrible amount of absurd things that can happen on these trips; wouldn’t that just be the cherry on top? Miles lived by the maxim, “Always leave yourself an out.” But how did one leave an out when it came to space bandits and mysterious illnesses?

Pulling his attaché case closer to his left side, he placed his left leg over his right knee. Should’ve brought something to read…

    Location: Guards Van

Logan staggered into the Guards Van, throwing his ragged overcoat over a rack near the door he collapsed into his bunk at the rear. The steel walls reflecting dully in the orange glow of the overhead lights, the remains of a card game lay scattered across the battered metal table bolted to the floor in the center of the van, an old fridge rattled and clunked in the corner, a guard had tried to repair it at some point but his mechanical knowledge was less than perfect. Another guard was shaving over a bowl of water in the corner, his scarred features grimacing as he tried to see in the inadequate light.

It wasn't much of a home but for the past two decades Logan had lived in a succession of Guards Vans on various trains travelling to and from the colonies, he was used to the steady hum of the engines, the unpredictable gravity in cars more distant from the engine and the frequent pirate attacks. Picking himself up he wandered past the shotguns in their rack ready for use and reached his locker. Fumbling in his pockets for a key, his rough hands pulled out a handful of coins of various currencies, a couple of spent shell casing and a small key on a loop of copper wire. Fitting it into the slot he gave the door a yank to free the rusty hinges before it finally creaked open revealing mounds of newspapers, files, threadbare clothes, photographs of colonies, revolver parts and an envelope containg three hundred thousand Arcturan Credits. Checking it was still there he pushed it deeper into the junk mountain and pulled out a yellowed newspaper. Carefully closing the locker door Logan sat down at the table in the center of the van and began to slowly read the print, stores ten years out of date flowed through his mind to ease the tiredness of a guard on an understaffed train.

    Location: First Class

There was a most delightful smell making it's way around the room. As he adjusted himself to be sitting better Jace's mouth began to water a little. It smelled like good beef. Really good beef. Gravy too. Maybe a full course meal. It was first class after all. Here was the best of things. Just for them. Comfortable seating that could be used as bedding. Clean walls. Food of high standards, of course. Even the air itself was tinted slightly with some piny fresh smell. Only the best for them in first class. He leaned his head back and took a deep breath. It was a full course meal he could smell. It was almost in his grasp. Almost. Except for one small detail.
He was bound upin a straight jacket.

"Why? Why am I taunted so?" He thought to himself. "I never did anything bad."
    "Murdered over twenty people."
    "Over 40...49 to be precise."

There it was again. Those faint whispers that sometimes ran through his mind. He pushed them aside. He hated being bound up like this he couldn't do anything. People also avoided him. Except his escort. But they were on a toilet break right now and so he didn't even had someone to talk to. He shuffled himself along his seat and leaned over the side. He couldn't open the door to go and find better company and he couldn't even eat on his own. Suddenly first class didn't seem to first class after all.
"I don't need to have the perfect plan. My foe just has to have an imperfect one." Jace Beleren

"Why fight the body when you can dominate the mind that rules it?" Jace Beleren

As the last few passengers jump on the train and the doors closed the announcement came on over the intercom.
"Welcome aboard the laser train 429 bound for doomaria." The metalic voice rang out.
"Those of us here at departure rails, would formally like to welcome you aboard and hope your trip is as enjoyable as possible.

Please make note of your nearest exit and make sure all your luggage is stored securely." It is painfully obvious to everyone there that there are no exits at all. One wouldn't do much good even if there was considering where they were traveling. Those in Coach don't bother even paying attention to the announcement, conversing amongst themselves. The sounds of a busker can still be heard from inside. Many are more interested in the musician than the announcement.
"In the event of an emergency , such as the train being derailed, acid leaking from the roof, or your cabin being sucked into a black hole, do not panic. Simply put on your secure safety life jacket which can be found under your seat and head to your nearest exit.
Once again thank you for joining us and have a plesant journey.

We will arrive in Doomaria in 52 hours."

The passengers settle in as the train takes off.

@Tetsanosuke ; After the train has taken off you notice a pair of twins giggling to themselves and staring at you. Eventually one, upon the urges of the second, approaches you and timidly asks for your autograph adding that she and her sister are 'Your biggest fans, we have all your albums'.

    @Cross Avantgarde ;
No sooner than the train left and Miles had gotten comfortable than and large burly man strode into second class. He glanced around him with contempt before preaching loudly to the passengers.
"REPENT! Those of you who leave Gods wonderful home for a heathen world heed my words. The lord of all the universe sees your departure from his home and he is not pleased. You must repent and join the Church of the Move. Any of you who refuse I challenge you to a match!"

@-GAZKUL- ; The guard shaving glances up and the dirty clock in the corner.
"Take the first shift, ok Logan?" He mutters to you.
"I'll grab the latter ones". Dipping his razor in the water he repeats the careful process of shaving in the dim light.
The shifts of the guards don't start till half an hour after the train leaves and then rotate every hour for the first 10 before switching to 6 hour shifts. The paper Logan holds in his hands beckons him to finish reading.

    @Valkarma ;
The members of First eye you with suspicion. An unattended lunatic? This isn't what they signed up for. Still many of them simply turn their heads and seek to keep to themselves. All bar one old lady who, with a face that could curdle milk, is staring so hard at Jace that her eyeballs are in danger of popping out.

OOC: Sorry for the late post, got caught up the last two days. Also, for your enjoyment, an audio version of the trains departure. Opening Post.mp3

Cassandra turned from her window when she caught the presence of the child with her peripheral vision. She had listened to the announcements and sighed to some of the pointlessness found within them, but it wasn't the biggest of deals she supposed. Besides that, her mind was on the child and she smiled to her inquiry as well as her comment. Her response was accompanied with a hand to the child's shoulder and fulfilling her request. She signed her name in her signature way upon a photo of her and the band from their concert days, the way she always signed autographs. A slash between her first and last name, and her nickname.

She handed the child the photo graciously, "I knew these old shots of the band and me would come in handy. Here you go."

Logan didn't even look up from his paper as the announcement crackled though the tannoy, he'd heard it hundreds of times before on various trains, now after so much time it merely annoyed him. So far he'd been lucky, serving for as long as he had he knew that if the train went down then they'd die with it, at least he was in a position to defend himself in the likely event of an attack. Carefully folding up the paper he climbed up from the bench, it's rusty metal frame groaning quietly as his weight left it. Grunting in reply to the guard's suggestion he pulled his old and much used revolver out of it's worn leather holster, the light glinting off the rows of metal studs running across the center, one for every pirate killed over his career, two hundred and thirty four in total, he could remember every one of them, their faces burned into his mind forever.

Shoving it back into the holster and making sure his knife was sharp he picked up his grimy and ragged overcoat and pulled it over his broad shoulders, while past his prime Logan retained the looks of a former hard man, the burns on his arms from train board fights and the crude removal of prison tattoos visible though the holes in the jacket's sleeves, a few leather plates attached to the inside provided some protection but they'd long since lost any real structural strength or resistance to damage but he wore it anyway. Leaving the guards van he headed into the narrow corridor through the baggage section which led to the first class carridges.

Miles closed his eyes as he listened to the digitized announcement, unable to subdue the wry smile that soon became visible on his face. Who the devil is in charge of the laser train’s Public Relations Department? Acid leaks, black holes, derailings, and non-extant exits? Why on earth would you even bring that up? And what kind of a name is “Doomaria?” The root word is a bit dark, one might say. Guess this just comes with—

Miles’s eyes shot open as soon as the gruff voice sounded out in the second class compartment. Apparently, leaving Mother Earth was a sin and the colonies were cesspools of immorality. Doubtful that the Almighty had chosen the large radical zealot before him as His chosen mouthpiece, Miles simply shook his head and closed his eyes once again.

You’ve gotta be kidding me…boredom is only worse when it’s mixed with bad company. Church of the Move? Rather obscure name. Don’t you have to register new cults nowadays?

As much as Miles wanted to simply keep his eyes closed and wait to see if the radical would dissipate like a bad dream, he knew the opposite was true.

Alright Miles, just jump through the hoop. You might allow the other passengers to relax a bit once you quiet the radical down. He’s not gonna go away. And besides, this might be a learning experience…

Also doubtful concerning his last thought, he indulged his mischievous nature and answered the challenge, happily dispelling the awkward silence that ensued after the radical’s words.

“Behold, your first dissenter!” he said with relish, standing to his feet but keeping his attaché case in his left hand. “And what would said challenge entail? Are we allowed to make our own wagers? If I win, will you remain silent for the rest of the trip?”

Don’t push too hard, Miles. If his challenge involves something bordering insanity, there could be all kinds of trouble in here. Just shut him up and get to Doomaria as smoothly as possible…

Jace caught sight of the woman staring at him. She was seated next to the corridor that lead to second class. She like all the others had problems with him being there. Why? Didn't they recognize his greatness? With a fake grace he slid from his seat and plodded along next to her. She was suddenly taken back and began to move away from him. She soon found herself stuck between the walls and Jace. He nodded to her and took the seat now free next to her.
"My dear lady. I am a fine doctor and I believe that you have over dexterous eyes." He tutted, "A poor condition to have while upon such a long journey. Why they might pop right out half way through."
The woman looked quite confused as she processed what he had just said. As she realised she took a defense approach and her back tightened up. Oh yes she was very much the stuck up kind. As her face began to rise and as she looked down at him Jace was sure he could feel a whisper.
"About an inch to the right. Right there. You bite hard enough to burst the artery and she gone. She who thinks she can look down at me. Hate me. I hate her. Hate her. Hate her..." At that the voice continued it's chant. Jace was confused and it took him a few moments before he realised she had said something.
    "Pardon?"
"I said. What would it take to get rid of you?" She sounded about as nice as she looked. "Name your price. I'll pay."
    "Really?" Jace asked.
"Anything." She seemed pleased as through she had got a dog to do a trick. The chanting continued. Jace then suddenly had an idea.
    "Open the door!" Jace grinned.
    "What?"
"Simple." Jace shrugged. "Open the door to second class. As you can see my hands are..." He searched for the right word. "Preoccupied. So just pop in the code. Open it and hey presto I'm out of everyone's hair."
It took her a few moments to consider it. Then she slide along. Jace move quickly out of her way. His escort could be back any moment and he felt if he touched the woman his skin might melt. She hesitated while thinking of the code but quickly enetered it without problems. The door slid open and exposed the corridor running to the next class. The door at the end waited. Jace grinned. He pushed past the woman who grunted and went back to her seat. A smug look pictured her face. Jace heard the door shut behind him and while waiting a moment in the cold corridor, prepared himself. Maybe someone worth interacting with was beyond those door. It made him smile to think about. He grinned and proceeded down the corridor humming to the chant still ringing within his ears. Using his elbow to press the switch the doors opened and he felt like stepping into a new world.

@Tetsanosuke ; The girl beams with glee before quickly returning to her sister as they both congratulate each other on a job well done.
Despite it's many negatives and questionable passengers Coach is rather calm. Most are content to talk among themselves or enjoy the sights. The train is leaving earth moving into space. The infinite darkness is dotted with thousands of burning stars. It's rather calming.

@-GAZKUL- ; Logan walks down the baggage section and straight through first class without ever spotting anything amiss. He can barely even remember any of the details of the baggage room or first class as he reaches the end door leading to second.

    @Cross Avantgarde ; and @Valkarma ;
The large man stares at you with contempt.
"My name is Carlos Pavlova and in the name of God you will regret your decision heathen."
He then turns and leaves the carriage. Before Miles can breath a sigh of relief however he returns with a rather ancient look boombox and hitting a button. Second class is soon filled with energetic dance music. Pavlova starts moving oddly before you realise he's doing the robot. The music blares into full swing and he energetically starts throwing his body around. Despite his creepy nature no one can deny his dancing skill. He ends his performance by doing a double backflip, something that seems almost impossible for his stature. He smiles at Miles.
"Now lets see what moves you posses heathen".
Before Miles can strut his stuff Pavlova is knocked to the floor as Jace Cargan comes crashing into second class wearing a straight jacket. Both men hit the floor hard, Pavlova's wrist seems to bend under him. Jace is saved mostly by landing on Pavlova and luckily doesn't sustain any injuries despite having no arms to block his fall.
This is a Sig. It's horribly out of date.

Samantha was more than excited to get over to the new world. Some of her teams were out at each of the new planets already and she was eager to see how it was at each of the places. For now, she'll need to work with her current team as they make their way over to Doomaria. She was still in her uniform though she felt more comfortable in her engineer suit. Still, it was good to be out of her suit and in her uniform, so her skin could get some fresh air. As she was checking the cargo for all of the engineer equipment, she could hear over the announcement that it would take 52 hours to arrive at their destination, it would be for a quiet a while so she had to get settled in.

OOC: Sorry for the short post, currently getting ready for a tournament.

"Shine on, girls!" Cassandra said cheerfully, her visage void of her heavy thoughts. Afterward she took off her baseball cap, with the insignia of the Cardinals, and placed it in the leather jacket she was sitting against. Perhaps she really didn't need the hat after all, seeing as most of the passengers who were fans had already received her autographs.

It made the rock star optimistic, to say the least, that such young girls could be touched by her music- and it made her realize that music is a sort of universal means of expression. Juxtapose was never a very dark band, even with it's melodic songs, it was only parts to a whole. A balance; the positive with the negative- the band's Ying and their Yang, so to speak. When it came to music, Cassandra realized, the listeners were always standing side by side on a similar vibe. The beauty was almost difficult to fathom.

When the train shunted its way into space, further and further, her eyes became drawn back to the window. The infinite space before her was a representation of the infinite possibilities life seemed to offer. What was their beyond life, beyond perception? Beyond thought and emotion? When the universe seemed so empty to the people of the past, she wondered, how they might have imagined Heaven or Mount Olympias?

The latter train of though was quelled, though, when she realized that even from the ear space wasn't so empty. Remembering the nights she spent with her friends before their interview and demo, how Jenny 'Emma Alkaline' Wonson- her best friend and keyboardist would count the stars. Cassandra could still remember what Jen always said; "The sky may be the limit, but the stars are always within our grasp"- These words were usually followed with a reaching motion, as though her lithe pale hands were grabbing a firefly from the nocturne shroud.

Our Rocker's eyes came to gentle tears at the memories, wiping them as they came with a handkerchief. It was clear now that Jen was right.

Perhaps the world was never meant to make perfect sense.

    Location: Second Class

"My name is Carlos Pavlova and in the name of God you will regret your decision heathen."

Miles grew anxious, anticipating what Carlos’s challenge was. Suddenly the man exited and Miles looked around awkwardly at his fellow passengers. “Sorry if I made anyone uncomfortable by accepting his challenge,” he began to say, feeling a bit embarrassed over being involved in Carlos’s disruption. “I just find it hard to believe that Carlos is God’s chosen vessel to—”

Before he could finish Carlos had reentered the compartment and was carrying with him a gigantic, outdated boombox.

I’ve gotta be dreaming...no way this is real...

Carlos hit a button on the boombox and suddenly dance music filled the air.

Nope, I’m wide awake and this is really happening...Why, oh why did I choose Second Class?!

Immediately after that thought passed, Miles observed Carlos doing the “Robot.” Mouth agape, Miles watched a truly professional performance of the dance, and realized that he was being challenged to a dance-off by an expert. After Carlos stopped, he smiled at Miles and began to speak.

"Now lets see what moves you posses heathen".

Before Miles had a chance to respond, the door that separated First and Second Class seating burst open and a man in a straight jacket seemed to careen into Carlos, causing both men to fall to the floor. Carlos’s wrist seemed to be injured in the incident.

A dance-off performed by a religious radical and a sudden deus ex machina via a man in a straight jacket? No one is going to believe this when I tell them...

Hesitating a bit, Miles finally walked over to the man in the straight jacket who was currently on top of Carlos. Wait, he came out of First Class?! Maybe choosing Second Class wasn’t such a bad choice after all. Then again...he doesn’t look too crazy to me. If anything, he seems to be perfectly fine.

“Don’t be alarmed, alright? I’m just gonna help you up. Here we are...” Miles lifted up on the man’s enwrapped arms and helped him back to his feet. “You alright? What’s your name, pal?” Remembering that Carlos too was on the floor and likely injured, Miles extended his right hand. “Need a hand? And is the challenge still on? I’d hate to unleash the Futterwacken in here, but I will if it comes down to it.”

Miles was bluffing a bit. He had indeed performed the Futterwacken before at a neo-Hallow’s Eve festival in college (sans the head-spinning, of course), but outdoing Carlos’s surprisingly smooth moves would be a tall order. Other than that, all he knew in the way of dancing was an “Evolution of Dance” skit he and some fraternity friends had performed as a joke in front of a sorority meeting. And what was the story behind the man in the straight jacket? Still partially believing he was dreaming, Miles looked back to the bound man. “Know any moves, pal? I could use an extra card in my deck right now.”

"Did not see that coming." Jace thought as he threw himself through the door. He was expecting it to be difficult to open. That wasn't the truth. He fumbled to keep his balance and began falling. He crashed into second class making a lot of noise and a fool out of himself to boot. Lucky for Jace there was someone there to break his fall. Not the best solution, but one that worked. His head began to spin and suddenly he felt someone help him up.

“Don’t be alarmed, alright? I’m just gonna help you up. Here we are...” Miles lifted up on the man’s enwrapped arms and helped him back to his feet. “You alright? What’s your name, pal?”

"Me?" Jace blinked a few times as the strange fellow helped him up and off the one who broke his fall. He felt a sneeze coming coming on and turned his head in time to avoid spraying all over this kind person. He turned back sniffing. "Me? I'm Jace. I've got kinda caught up in something tricky haven't I? Stupid mates binding me up like this. They thought it would be funny." He looked over and down at the person he had landed on. Then he spotted the break.
    Snap.
"Oh no!" He spun around and kneeled down as best he could with his balance off. "He has broken his wrist." Candle looked up the new person. "Please you have to help me a second. I'm a doctor. I can help this man." He shook his hands a bit. "But well... as you can see my friends practical joke is getting in the way." He smiled up at the person, a pure smile. "Could you be so kind as to help me out of this?" He indicated towards the straight jacket. "It just needs those two belts undone at the back and it should be enough. Then I can get to helpping this person." He smiled again. "My name is Candle by the way. What's yours?"

Logan paced slowly through the baggage and first class cars without noticing anything, the tiredness seemed to be coming in waves as his legs carried him forward on autopilot, his feet waling the route he'd walked thousands of times before. Reaching into his overcoat he pulled out a flask of strong coffee, fumbled with the lid he took a long slug, the caffeine cutting through the exhaustion like a knife. Springing back into consciousness he opened the door into second class and stopped as he saw the scene unfolding before him.

A man in a straight jacket burst past him and smashed into another one, a large boombox was pumping out music, the bass making Logan's mind rattle as he tried to think straight and decide what to do, another man helped the straight jacked one to his feet. Logan pulled out his revolver with a sigh as he remembered vauguly about a murderer who was supposed to be on board, figuring that the straight jacketed one must be him Logan pointed the weapon at him and said in a low voice

"Security. How about doing us all a favor by going back to first class and not causing any problems"

I've got kinda caught up in something tricky haven't I? Stupid mates binding me up like this. They thought it would be funny."

Miles laughed sympathetically. Straightjacketing a friend? He’d seen worse in college, so it wasn’t too far-fetched. His own reputation with the upperclassmen and the dean of his college was a sordid one, what with all the pranks he’d pulled. This poor man who had quite a confident manner of speaking was simply the victim of a practical joke.

A doctor? He could certainly pass for one, sans the straightjacket. But he said his name was ‘Jace.’ And now his voice is…changed, somehow. Same voice, just…I don’t know, it’s just different in some way, and that, along with the fact that he is now telling me his name is ‘Candle’, well…this isn’t adding up…

The confusion was evident on Miles’s face, but the way in which Jace/Candle looked up at him impacted his thoughts. Miles could see only honesty and a caring nature behind Candle’s eyes, and though he could be fooled he was almost certain that this was not an act. But the two names? Did he belong in that straightjacket? Nevertheless, Miles could not see the harm it would do if he freed him. After all, wouldn’t he be attended by someone if he were truly a threat? Miles reached down to undo the straps, only to jump in shock at a voice that suddenly came from the other side of the Second Class compartment.

"Security. How about doing us all a favor by going back to first class and not causing any problems"

Oh great, we’ve got the attention of a muscular security guard and—oh man, is that a—yep, it’s a gun. Fantastic. A dancing radical, a polite but straightjacketed doctor, and an armed man about 5 meters from me. This trip is just splendid…

Standing with his arms raised submissively, Miles simply said, “It’s not what it looks like—that is, I—well, I’m not going to lie, I was going to free him, but…you see, the man below him needs help, and…as for the music, I…”

Shut it, Miles, you’re making this worse. And you sound stupid.

Candle bolted straight up from inspecting the mans' wound. Down near the end of the corridor was a man holding a gun. Candle paused for but a moment before beginning to shout.
"You idiot!" He almost roared. "Someone is in pain and you think what's important to pushing away those wanting to help them." Candle glared daggers at the man. "Please just let me help him." He pleaded. Candle struggled to get himself to his feet. "Please. Just put the gun down. Your panicking others in the carriage. Just think for a moment, it makes sense." He lowered his head. Fighting would help this person at his feet. Tears formed in his eyes. "Just let me help this man and then I'll go back."
He turned to look at the stranger. "Thank you." He whispered. "Thank you for trying. If you go back to your seat you will be fine I hope." He smiled and turned back to stare at the guard. Waiting for his response.

Samantha decided to head on over to Second Class to get some rest before she and her team get to Doomeria. Before leaving the cargo area, she checked on the equipment that her team brought with her. They're going to be needing it in this dangerous job as well as everyone's talent. She smiled as she left the cargo area and on to second class. Despite not being in her engineering suit, she can defend herself if needed and she can make any man look wimpy.

    @Valkarma ; @Cross Avantgarde ; @-GAZKUL- ;
Pavlova gets up with little effort. His wrist doesn't seem to bother him. "Typical security scum, intimidating doctors now? You heathens shall all burn in hell' Echoing Candle's sentiments that the gun was a little much and frightening the passengers. In reality however the majority of the passengers in Second were more weary of the straight jacketed screaming man and the bizarre dance master that had disturbed their peace. Logan's presence was a sign of hope, things might be ok with decent security men the passengers thought. A handful of others were rather enjoying the scene, one gleefully jeered "Finish the dance contest!"

@Light Buster ; As thanks for working on the train Departure Rails also offered a cosy Second Class ticket. Thought of warm chars to relax in is rather too much for Samantha and is all she can think of at the moment. She breezes through the Cargo bays and into Coach.
This is a Sig. It's horribly out of date.

Logan's cold grey eyes never left the straight jacked man, standard procedure seemed to just gone out of the window, still he'd dealt with more bizarre situations. Ignoring the preacher and the man who claimed to be a doctor, they weren't a threat to the train's security he said to the straight jacketed man in his emotionless voice

    "What happened to your minder?"

On her way to second class, Samantha made her way through the coach, whistling to a tone that she remembered. She couldn't help but think of rest and relaxation upon getting there. During her trip there, she encountered one of her engineering teammates, who she also noted. It was her supervisor that she met up with, seeing that she also wanted to talk as well. The supervisor was a bit in the 60s but she still had the knowledge and strength to work as one.

(Supervisor) "Well, if it isn't Samantha? As high spirited as usual..."
(Samantha) "Yep, how are you doing?"
(Supervisor) "Doing well, I'm glad I was able to get this chance to talk to you."
    (Samantha) "Is something of concern?"
(Supervisor) "No, though I wanted to talk to you personally."
(Samantha) "I see. I'm still looking for my engineering suit though. I can't find it for some reason."
(Supervisor) "That's the reason I wanted to talk to you."
    (Samantha) "Eh?"

Her supervisor then pointed to Samantha.

(Supervisor) "We actually made upgrades to your suit though everyone else has to wait due to the cost of this upgrade though the company has taken interest in you so they gave you the first look at it. We field tested it so that we didn't have to kill any of our engineers during its use. We've managed to implant the device into your body so you don't have to put it on would like to see how it works on you so if you mind..."

Samantha shook her head in interest in the device. She was embarrassed by the fact that was implanted in her without her knowledge but happy that she didn't have to take it off or put it on every time she needed it.

(Supervisor) "Oh, here's what you should know about the suit..."

She then went up to Samantha's ear and whispered all of the features, pros, and cons of the upgraded suit. Samantha was surprised about the upgrades and embarrassed about them.

    (Samantha) "Eh?!?!"
(Supervisor) "Well, you should head over to Second Class and get some rest. You're going to need it."

Samantha nodded as she continued her trip to Second Class.

Miles looked around at the passengers who shared the Second Class compartment of the train with him. They didn’t seem nearly as agitated or bothered as he would have been. Strangely enough, the security guard almost seemed to calm their nerves. The guard was looking at the man who had introduced himself to Miles with two names.

    "What happened to your minder?"

A “minder”? What did the guard mean? From what he’d been told, Jace/Candle had been the victim of a prank. Was he fittingly in the straightjacket for something he’d done? A shout from one of the passengers broke his concentration, and surprisingly the shout was over the interrupted dance contest.

Miles swallowed and looked back at the guard. Pavlova seemed fine, but the issue with Jace/Candle was yet to be resolved. Scared to acquiesce to resuming the dance contest, Miles waited to see what the guard decided to do with the straightjacketed man. One thing was certain, however: when Miles had seen the man’s eyes when he had introduced himself as “Candle,” he seemed completely harmless. Would the guard believe him, or did the guard know more about the man’s background and was thus acting accordingly?

Logan's eyes flickered round the carriage, the passengers he could see seemed reassured by his presence, clearly Dr Cargan hadn't been speaking long before he'd arrived. Only the man nearest seemed wary of Logan, sizing up the man hastily and guessing that from his light frame that he wouldn't be much of an issue in a straight fight.......

"snap out of it Logan, you're here to do your job, get paid and stay hidden, no civilian deaths this time, the less trouble you cause the better" he thought while trying to find out a way to keep everyone calm and the Doctor out of trouble for now. Logan's education had been basic and short, a couple of years in an understaffed school in a factory, one of the few which had yet to employ machines, a relic from the days of cheap labour and inefficient machines, a self containing conglomeration of steel and concrete. They taught the basics, how to read and how to use a fusion welder, maths wasn't taught so the workers wouldn't know how much they were really being paid by the corrupt managers. Logan only learnt this when the factory mechanized and it was too late, matters were settled with fists rather than words which in turn had led to the attitude that fighting solved all problems. Bad idea.

"Ladies and Gentlemen i'm sorry for any inconvenience which may have befallen you before my arrival but as soon as this lunatic is back in First class with the rest of the animals the better, don't ask me what he's done because i neither know nor care, all that matters is that this heap of space crap makes it to the colonies with enough people on board left alive for me to get paid" He said in increasingly frustrated tones.

Animal? Space crap? Why on earth would he say such things?

Miles knew better than to mess with the only semblance of authority in the Second Class compartment. After all, the more safety the better, and there was no need to stir up unnecessary trouble. Nevertheless the man’s words were harsh, and Candle had earlier thanked Miles with a tone that made Miles lament the treatment he was now receiving. Candle’s whisper still rang in his ears.

"Thank you for trying. If you go back to your seat you will be fine I hope."

Dismayed at Candle’s treatment by the guard, Miles was nonetheless relieved to see that the guard did indeed plan to get Candle to his destination safely, despite the lack of hospitality Candle would recieve. But what was all that talk about not letting any passengers die? Surely Candle wasn’t that dangerous. At any rate, Miles looked back at Candle and nodded to convey his understanding that he was powerless to intervene at the moment. Stepping back in a show of submission to the guard, Miles moved closer to his original seat.
