It's the hacking epidemic!!

First Sony got hacked, then Square Enix/Eidos' website, then Sony got hacked again, then Nintendo got hacked, then Codemasters got hacked and along Epic Games also got hacked.

So who is the next victim of this outrageous epidemic?!

On a serious note, I think this is a serious case on how everything is getting hacked and then compromised. =\

So far, video game sites got hacked but that doesn't mean the hackers will choose a different kind of victim.

I heard they already made 2 arrest in Spain or something linking to Sonys hack.. It just goes to show Sony isn't at fault. Everything is able to be hacked. You're not protected no matter who you are with. The only way you're protected is if you've never heard of the internet.

Sony is very much at fault. While most computer systems can be hacked, there are preventative measures one can take to reduce the damage of being hacked. Judging from the effect of the PSN hack, these measures have not been taken.

Also, most of these other targets are relatively low security targets. The official website of a business is generally it's own webspace filled with content for end-users, separate from the internal network of the business. It should not be possible to obtain for example trade secrets or credit card numbers by hacking one of these official websites. Sure, they can be hacked, but what are the hackers gonna do? At best they'll deface them, but there's no real profit to be made.

So Nintendo is low security as well? Well if you can't use Sony or Nintendo I guess you're stuck with Microsoft. For now. Until they get hacked.

From what I understand, what was hacked was just a website with information, not the game network itself. The game network should have high security, as it's operation critical. That is where Sony was at fault.

Well it's sort of impossible to have high security these days. Because regardless of if anyone likes it or not. The cyber community is acting faster than the security community. The minute someone comes up with something secure and safe is nearly the minute someone comes up with a method on how to crush it or get through. There used to be a big gap between the two on the amount of time it took for someone to figure out a new system but now it's such a thin line.
