Well yeah, I was referring to the bank being held accountable.
I hate Bank of America, for reasons I can't talk about due to work rules, but it makes me grin to see them get some negative press.
I work for an armored car company, as well as a hospital, I'm not supposed to talk specifics about clients.
That's because not all accusations are actually true. The only thing that makes them somewhat better at dealing with the courts is their experience with them. They have bad days in court too.
My main beef with BoA is that how they sneak in hidden fees and stuff is pretty much fraudulent. They design their online interface such that when you transfer money between your accounts you can't see the amount and you're allowed to select an amount higher than what is in the account. In other words they designed the UI such that you can overdraft an account. That's intentional design. They profit of overdrafts enough that they want people to overdraft.

I drove by Naples the other day.lol why did no one invite me to the party.
In any case. I guess some people are getting foreclosure happy.

In Soviet Russia, Bank of America get foreclosed by YOU.
I just heard a similar and completely unrelated story this morning of BoA doing roughly the same thing to someone else. Only difference was, instead of threatening to foreclose the home over a mortgage that didn't exist they were threatening to foreclose over being owed zero dollars and zero cents. Ending was less awesome, though. The homeowner complained to the local news team and wound up with an apology from BoA and $150.

Ehhh, I dunno if I'll stick around. We'll see.

They also got rid of free checking, so I had to switch banks. They wanted to charge me $8.95 a month for a (previously free) checking account, which doesn't seem like much, but for me it is since I have to save basically every dollar I get/make.
They had an alternative "web checking" account where the monthly fee was waived, but if for any reason you needed to make an in-person transaction with this "online" account at a teller, they'd also charge you $8.95. Which is completely stupid and makes no sense whatsoever.

I'm certainly glad that I didn't knuckle under to the absolutely obnoxious attendant who wanted to set me up with a student-loan-account when I was cashing a check at the nearest BoA. They're probably the most annoying bank I've had to deal with, which is saying a lot.
I'm not really surprised by this. I do, however, hope that people understand that banks are there to make money, not just store it. Sure, they can be real dicks about it, but they're not nearly as bad as the infomercial scams.

Yeah, but their traditional way of making money was to loan it out at higher rates than the ones they pay depositors. Now they make extra by charging hidden fees which are just big enough that they're not worth arguing over. In addition, when you loan money to a bank and when a bank loans money to another person, the interest is supposed to compensate for opportunity cost and the risk of not being paid back. Big banks get bailed out by the government so they don't actually take a risk.

Yes, I know. I was just saying that banks are there to make money. The lesson in how they've screwed us all was unnecessary. Still not as much as an out-right scam (some)infomercial products are.
Oh, well, golly gee wiz. Who `da thunk it?
Again, I know how banks work. Also, as far as someone who has put there money in a bank is concerned, the money is just stored.
