I was just watching an episode of DBZ:Kai on NickToons today and I heard Vegita refer to Goku as Kakarat. Why is that?

Yeah, just like the others said, 'Kakarott' is Goku's Saiyan name. The name 'Goku' was given to him by Gohan, who found him and raised him. He was also the one who taught him martial arts.

Kakkarot was picked up as a baby by a martial arts master named Gohan in DragonBall. "Grandpa" Gohan named him Goku (because the baby had no nametag). Vegeta knows Goku's real name because they're both Saiyans.
Goku named his son after the Gohan who raised him.

Vegeta refuses to call him Goku because having a human name is shameful I guess?

Also the original Dragonball Z has a better soundtrack and longer fights. So it's more worth your time than DBZ Kai.

And English manga uses katakana for SFX a lot of the time. Juuuuuust saying. But I'm just getting sidetracked. There are 2 ways to pronounce the names, English and Japanese. Kakarot is the English way and Kakarotto is the Japanese way. Whichever way someone chooses to pronounce or even "translate" is up to them. Booyakaaaaa. Badumdumdum.

You didn't have to reply to me if you didn't want to. And correcting someone with "Kakarotto" from the name "Kakarot", which is correct in it's own way, would seem pretty weaboo-ish to me.

Original name for The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was, The Legend of Zelda: Triforce of the Gods. In Japanese words that's Zelda no Densetsu: Kamigami no Triforce. Using Japanese pronunciations for the names that then becomes Zeruda no Densetsu: Kamigami no Toraifosu.
However spelling that in either kanji, katakana, or hiragana is beyond my ability.

It was confusing at first but then I realised that since Goku is a Saiyan and human he has a Saiyan name and human/Earth name
I think that's what it means
