or is mass public transit the way of the future?

There is actually a flying car... I read an article about it a long time ago.. I'll come back and post the link when I find it.

There is no future since we can only do one of two things. Experience what's happening now and what has happened.
Cars are dangerous. Flying cars are maybe ten times more dangerous. The typical modern government would never allow it even if all other logistical problems were accounted for.
^^ It's actually legal to drive them and it's legal to fly them since they passed all the safety things. Problem? lol

I swear I've started this thread before. Way back in ye olden days.
Hey look, Japan made a movie about me!
Flying cars? That would be pretty darn amazing...but wouldn't that pollute the air twice as much ._."
If there were flying cars, then you probably travel across the world or something without paying a ticket XD Unless it could take you only so far >>"

I think flying cellphones are more this generation's style.

Yeah, but you still need clearance and a runway.
There are all sorts of local runways. Made up of grass and dirt :|
I was surprised but yeah they are tucked away in nooks and things for those who own private planes so you don't have to go to commercial airports. One of my old friends who was 19 at the time took me in a ride on his plane. The runway was really bumpy and I was scared. Now I'm scared all over because he was the age I am now. 0__0 I'd never let myself fly a plane.

The thing is though what lisence would you need to drive one? A car or plane one? Or perhaps both? or perhaps a brand new type and it would be freaking dangerous to do so when it first launches unless we also invent hovering signs to indicate sky lanes or stick the signs on huge poles because if we didn't do that people would be flying all over the place.
Well, you're talking about a plane which can be driven on a road legally. The difference is you only have a handful of pilots who are using the thing as opposed to the general public. I know that planes have existed for quite a while now.
I remember it, but don't know where it is. I also remember you making a thread about America having big cookies.Originally Posted by Eris

Well for the public to drive one you'd need them to have a license for both?
Just like you need a special license to drive a motorcycle.. a semi.. and anything else that isn't a regular car/truck.. What I'm talking about is no different than what you're talking about. Seriously. No matter what flying thing you invent you're going to need a pilots license to operate it. So.... Yeah it's the same thing. And they are not hard to get if you really want one. Since my 19 year old friend already had his pilot license and his own plane before he even had his drivers license and a car... Just a little extra determination and money.
Child how old are you??? Do you see them up there now? We have planes in the air right now. And they actually do fly close enough to crash.. But they actually have a radar system in the planes.. Similar to a GPS......

The thing is though you are talking about what billions of people using flying cars at once compared to just the thousands of planes in the sky, an organised sky road system would have to be introduced to minimize the risk of cars colliding with one another. Plus there is only so much GPS can do, there would have to be a massive overhaul to the current system to adapt it for the future of the flying cars
1. I doubt that many people are even going to have enough money to even buy one. They exist but no one can afford one. People can barely afford a regular car. Let alone a personal plane. Where do you think THAT MANY PEOPLE are going to be able to afford a plane/car crossover. If anyone in AF can let me know
2. People are too lazy to go the extra mile to go get a pilot license
3. It's not a GPS but similar. It could handle the capabilities I'm sure. Silly little signs the size of a telephone tower won't do any better. /common sense

Thats what people said origianlly about the first car that not everyone will be able to afford them but look at us now, billions of people drive vehicles ranging from mopeds to muscle cars.
People are lazy to get a driving license yet they drive anyway so why would that be any different in the future?
Still if you can come up with a fully functioning system then kudos to you
And car sales have dropped dramatically haven't they? Have you been up to date in the economy? Probably not since you're still a kid and could care less.
And Planes have been around since the early 1800's and even earlier depending on how technical you want to get.... Yet.... I don't really see an equal number of private planes owned as private cars..... Why? I mean they've been around for just as long..... Find a better excuse for how we possibly could afford one.
Getting in and driving a car down the street is not the same as getting in a plane and flying it a few states over. More complex my friend.

I meant from the dawn of the automative industry not just limiting to modern day as in today. And as you can see the number of cars has indeed gone up from when they were first launched
Thats because unlike the car planes are alot more expensive to operate and not everyone at the moment requires a plane to get from point A to point B. Where as when the flying car becomes availble it should be in a futuristic age when money becomes a thing of the past and people only sought to improve themselves
Actually you'll find I was reffering to the new GPS system not piloting a flying car or would it be driving?
Aren't they called airplanes and helicopters -.- lol But what are we in need of flying cars for ~.~ What's so wrong having to drive on land. What comes up will go down anyway.
But they do have a car that can take you anywhere and one doesn't have to drive, but just take a quick nap.

Well there's the fact with a flying car you can get from point A to point K in say 45 minutes where on land it might take you three hours.
You know, I was gunna say the same thing but I'd have phrased in a more humorous way. You need to lighten up GG, lets put a smile on that face.
I do remember having a discussion on this before but then this is AF. If we don't get 'Whats your favorite X' threads for the fifth time in a month then there is something wrong.
This is a Sig. It's horribly out of date.
Meh, being gloomy has its fun points. After all, misery breeds company.
