Anonymous Takes Down Sony's Website

The company’s legal crusade against PS3 hacker George “GeoHot” Hotz and others has gotten the attention of the hacktivist group, which is making a name for itself when it comes to DDoS attacks in recent months. There was also a fraction of the group (or very possibly, detractors trying to culminate some negative attention) who threatened Sony employees’ family members. While we’re suspect of that particular detail, there’s no denying Anonymous wasn’t bluffing about it other plans for Sony.
PlayStation Lifestyle reports that Anonymous has been busy crippling various Sony sites, including Store.PlayStation.com and PlayStation.com. Sony.com was also subject to site failure, but at press time was accessible. Regardless of intermittent availability, Sony isn’t taking Anonymous’ attacks laying down: It appears that the company has hired hacker-prevention team Prolexic Technologies to thwart the groups’ efforts.

Other sources say that Anonymous members are saying they have PSN user's credit card information, but choose not to use it at the moment.

This is old news. Also, this should go to the Gaming Section(Because the topic regards the PS3) rather...Anyways, what I gather from the people I been discussing this...a lot of people can't sign in to PSN.

Also, they did it because they wanted Other OS back, which was taken away a year ago exactly.

Seriously, Gotta love hackers. They don't like it when they can't hack their consoles (i.e. pirate games, screw with people in online games, and other things they obviously do, but won't admit to), so now they pretend to be "white knights" protecting their rights.

So how exactly is attacking the PSN going to help the millions of PS3 owners that don't give a crap about hacking their consoles, and would rather you not screw with their COD and help ruin the gaming economy by stealing games? Oh right, you just want to be able to turn your XMB purple and have your PS3 sing to you when it turns on... You don't want to do anything that affects other people.

He was angry, and hacked the PlayStation network. For those of you don't know, his name was Liang Xian. He had a grudge to cover; He clearly did it in cost of our entertainment.
