So the first episode just aired, thought I'd make a thread for the entire season. Put anything to do with the show in spoilers plz.

Thoughts on the first episode? At first I was all like "Wauh?" then I was like "Ohhhh...ARGH!".

 

Bet the austronaut is Amy.

Just sayin. Also

 

is anyone else upset that Moffat didn't put in anything cool in like Aliens. An episode about space and no aliens, I mean what the hell?

Finally, talk about innuendo.

Episode 2:

 

Not the best, but a solid enough episode. Leaves a lot of questions unanswered.

Not overly keen on the opening. It's a bit of a "lol @ you silly viewer, none of what we presented as exciting for 10 minutes actually matters." That's kinda just bad writing. I guess it's possible this was originally intended to be a cliffhanger between episodes or something? That would have pissed me off less.

Some of it sucked, some was classic Moffat and some

 

namely the part where the doctor broadcasts the Silence message to shoot them on sight

was awesome. Not a major kick off but then last seasons had an even more lackluster beginning. Also it's Pirates next week so wooooo!

Pirates this week so wooooo! Cool episode was cool. Couple of things annoyed me

 

namely the pirate in the powder room, what happened to him. We leave and suddenly he's gone but Rory and the kid are fine. Also Rory coming back out of no where. I get that you're being dramatic Moffat but at least have Amy do cpr one more time rather than him coming back from no where.

but overall it was good. Moffat again proves he works best with horror.

Anyone else a bit disappointed in last nights episode?

 

I felt they really wasted the potential of Hitler. I get the joke; haha he's still in the closet. I just think they could have done far more. Instead it was just a plot wrap up episode; nothing happened other than explaining past episodes such as why River doesn't regen in the library.

I completely missed that episode. How uncharacteristic of me. Will have to check it out as soon as possible.

I know what you mean. With the title being what it was, I was expecting more involvement. Im wondering if the concept of saving Hitler (assuming that was to be the premise) wasn't going to go over well with many people so they left stuff on the drawing room floor and were short for time for a new script. I got mixed feelings with the episode. I liked it generally because it's Dr. Who, but wrapping up the dark River plot in one episode instead of stretching it the rest of the season was sorta disappointing. Unless I jumped to conclusions too soon.

What's funny to think about is Amy named her daughter after her supposed best friend which actually was her child. Also she got her pseudo-name "River" originally from the Doctor which only knew her by that name. So Melody/River seems to be a walking paradox. What's next?

Huh.. well a fun enough return for the doctor, and I guess this explains why river didn't regenerate when we first met her at the library [check your shadows...]

I still have some issues with her, and the whole "you don't have to search for her anymore and can return to your regularly schedule adventuring bit is just too neatly wrapped up for my tastes.

I am also still quite bothered by her both indicating that she'd met the previous doctors (and having the spotters guide), and that she worried about meeting the doctor before he knew who she was at the same time.

The episode tried too hard to be the running around panic thing while being clever, that it didn't quite manage it, and falls quite short of being anywhere as epic as neil gaiman's
ep.

So now I've to talk about two weeks episodes. Last week, which I thought was ok and not going anywhere till the end. Then I was all "OMG!"

And this week, which I really enjoyed. Cool concept and great pacing and execution. Really enjoyed it.

 

No more Amy and Rory ;_;

 

Even worse James Corden is next week ;-;
