I had a really trendy salon that wanted to display them for sale in their shop, but the owner wanted larger prints than I can print with my photo printer, like ones that would be 28"x34" and bigger, everything framed and matted in a style that complemented his shop (in other words, not just the cheapest frames I could find), and non-glare plexiglass (which costs 2-3 times as much as regular glass). It probably would've cost me around $1800-$2000 to do it, and since I'm not planning to try and do this stuff professionally I couldn't justify that kind of investment. So now I'm just trying to sell prints (which cost a fraction of what framed photos would), but I'm having a hard time reaching my audience. I mean, I figure there has to be a fairly large number of anime/manga fans who would shell out $10-$20 bucks for a cool picture featuring their favorite anime/manga character(s), especially judging by the fan art sections at most anime and sci-fi conventions. I've seen people shell out $60-$200 bucks at a convention for art featuring characters they like, and all I'm charging is $10 plus shipping (so $11.73 total), and buyers even have the option of picking not only the character(s) they want, but even a specific shot of that character.
Anyway, as you can tell I'm a little confused about what to do and frustrated that I've only sold a couple dozen pics so far (including my anime/maga free pics). If anyone here has an idea for how I could reach more people or better my chances, I'd really appreciate the advice. Right now my wallet's 2D I'm so broke.
