My thoughts about animeforum.com

I've lurked this forum for a while, and have been a member for a few months...

Although this forum has a decent amount of traffic, I'm wondering as to why we have so many forums? Having so many gives the illusion that the forum is less active than it really is. I doubt anyone in charge has plans to change this, nevertheless if it is an idea I would suggest moving mostly all the "different anime topics" into one forum like, "Anime & Manga" (which already exists).... This would make this place look less cluttered and make it look more active as well.

I personally dislike the "gil" idea or whatever, but everyone else seems to like it so I wont talk about how flawed it is....

For the past few days I've used your guys' chat. I wonder why you don't get your own IRC... It's so much better in terms of usability, not to mention people can actually choose their own clients, so they're not stuck with a default second-rate Java one.

Note: Please take this feedback as constructive.... Not trying to push anyone's buttons per say...

To go along with the cons, the pros are there as well...

I enjoy the community here. I also like the idea that I see Staff Members post here, it helps remind normal users like me that you're just as involved in this as we are. (although that may have something to do with the fact that there are so many staff members)

I also liked the fact that the last feedback suggestion I made was answered in a timely manner. To go beyond this, a member helped me with the problem I presented.

I think this forum is actually a conflux of 5 different forums for 5 different websites. I, for example, only found out about the forum through animelyrics.com. But I'm not a mod or forum admin so I don't really know the actual history/structure of this forum's logistics.

As for the gil, I thought it merely adds a slightly interesting aspect to the forum. I don't think anyone actually takes it that seriously.

Gil allows you to modify your user titles and things as well as buy gifts for other members and access to serious talk. No one really cares about how little or how much one has.

As for me. The sections suit their purpose and I have no complaints.

I'll be honest, the reason I left AF or wasn't so active is because is so damned spread, me coming from a (mostly) a forum that had many sections but I only posted in one for many years. Now trust me, it's pretty easy to adapt to it.
