Actually, according to the original Japanese lyrics, it is indeed dono kurai there...

Really? I thought it was just because they were using Japanese characters so that's what it is literally, but they mean "don't cry" in English.

But, if that's how it's suppose to be, then never mind.

don't cry in Japanese would have to be donto kurai, and it would usually be written in katakana, the Japanese syllabary normally used for foreign words. But in this song, it is dono kurai, and it's written in hiragana, the syllabary for native Japanese words.

However, it is very likely the the artist used dono kurai and don't cry in two parallel places intentionally because of the similarity in their pronunciation.

So to take 'dono kurai' (which means 'how much/long/many') out of the sentence and replace it with 'don't cry' would make the sentence incomplete.

And, alike to what animeyay said, the romanization would be 'donto kurai' and would be in katakana.
