AF guilds.

So I thought about some fun ideas to make AnimeForum more active. And I've come up with this: Guilds.
Yes, it may sound lame, but it's not! It's your own fictional faction on AF. You can make a group for your section, and recruit members for it.
When this starts working we'll probably get mainstreams. And we can have contests between guilds!

But let's make some rules and explain some stuff first.

• You have to have at least 1000 posts, or 1 year AF membership to create a legit guild.
• All guilds have to be aknowledged in this thread before they can join specific events. (We still need to think of some.)
• Any member can join a guild, but you can only be in ONE guild.
• Every guild has a guildmaster, members, and special members. Special members can be assigned by the guildmaster.
• A guild name has to be appropriate, and original.
• A guild can have unlimited members, but for specific events you can only involve a certain amount of members.
• A guild needs at least 3 members to be recognised as a minor guild.
• A guild needs at least 10 members to be recognised as a major guild.
• A guild needs at least 25 members to be a mainstream guild.

What can a guild do?

When you made your own guild, please post in this topic and let us know of your guild. I'll make a list of guilds, but you need to update me on their status. (Guildname, minor/major/mainstream)
After you've done that, and we have a few guilds, we can make small contests. I will have a set of judges, independent judges, to rate the contest.
We can make contests like: "Gain the most highscores in the arcade as a guild." or "Win the most Arcade tournaments as a guild." or "Make the best guild signature.".
All kinds of stuff of that nature. We need to be a little bit active though.


First things first, we need to have at least 2 guilds to start off with, and we need a Guild staff. The guild with independent judges and supervisors of guilds.

I will only do this if I can get at least 3 other members to join this, including at least one staff member.

This is the new age, I was going to ask you to become part of the guild staff though, since you have the most forum experience of us all.
If I can get this to work, I will make weekly events.

I'd need more specific information than what's listed though.

This would be interesting but timing is hard because we have a lot of members who are in all different parts of the world and time zone is obviously different too, but I guess we could give it a try, nothing to lose if it fails.

I'd be more than happy to join a guild!

Hmm sounds interesting you can count me in.
It will be a lot of hard work to get this guild idea off the ground and to keep it going. Just let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
To that end I do have a few suggestions: The key to effectively executing this idea is in the guild events that you mentioned, you said you plan on having events every week, from my experience this is far too often. If you try to hold an event every week you will run out of ideas very quickly and you and everyone elts will grow tired of the guild idea very quickly. I have found that holding events every month is far more effective. Doing things this way solves many of the rudimentary problems that you will encounter such as you will have ample time to come up with event ideas which in turn will also make them turn out better because of the time you spent planning them. Due to the monthly time frame it will be quite a long time before you run out of event ideas. The events will instead of being something that happens all the time will become something everyone in the guild looks forward to. And finally if the events time frame lasts a few days to the maximum amount of about a week it will allow people from any area of the world to participate.

I think this sounds like a fun idea. Although, I would join a Guild that plays games online together at a certain time. Maybe some Minecraft, or some Steam games, or even on Xbox. I think gaming guilds would be the way to go on this. Unless some of us live close enough to have other types of guilds.

I want to say chat is a guild, by how it's all in one room (I think, since I haven't been in there for a year or something) and how everyone is all grouped and stuff. It probably is.

Here is a small issue I see, what specific things would a guild be able to do? As some people have pointed out, they would like to war each other. You have mentioned a monthly event to happen. You have small specifics to the ability to own your own guild and such. What other stuff do you see they would be able to do? Do you have a few people in mind who you think would be able to assist with the guild management? What type of things do you expect to see for them to be active? All in all, it is a good idea, just needs refining.

As to those who mentioned guild wars, what would you be fighting for? lol, In a lot of MMORPG games you fight for land or area on the map. As I said, refining.
