Anime identification - silent little girl living on a lotus

Posting here is my best guess concerning the forum rules.

Ok so I'm looking for an anime that must be at least 15 years old. It features a little girl the size of a lotus that lives on a pond. The character is speechless. There is a big frog that frightens her and I think she leaves on the wings of a bird near the end. I suppose the episodes are fairly short. I hope you can identify it. Last clue is that the person looking for an anime and that saw it as a child lived near the US, not europe. Thanks in advance.
