A new Anime. I saw the first episode, and I have to say I am reallllly looking forward to this series.
Only downfall? Waiting a week per episode

I think I will eventually love this series!!

"The story revolves around the IS Academy and its students who are training to become pilots for the IS (Infinite Stratos) weapon system. It so happens that this system can only be operated by females. However there was one young man named Orimura Ichika (15) who was able to use the IS. He then finds himself attending the busy academy dominated by girls. As it turns out Shinonono Houki, a childhood friend, is amongst his new classmates. "

Despite the harsh comments it garnered on ANN, I have to say this series looks pretty promising. You don't see too many animes out there with human-sized mecha and such well displayed animation. However, like Trollface said, any attempt at trying to turn into some kind of a harem could seriously ruin whatever promise this series has.

The first episode pretty much secured Houki as Ichika's partner, both on the battlefield and off. Her character is a pretty well-rounded one too. As a swordswoman, she has both a high level of discipline and combat ability; although this plays out pretty well in watching her act like such a normal girl in not being able to confront her feelings about Ichika, at least not yet.

Ichika's character is pretty solid as well. I was very pleased to see him portrayed as one who enjoys battle; something which I feel is pivotal to bringing this series to its potential. As long as he doesn't remain in the dark, intentional or otherwise, about Houki's feelings towards him or any feelings he has towards her, things will turn out just fine.

Like I said, this show has some promise; but it's only the first episode, so we'll have to see how things turn out from here. Here's hoping for the best.

Yeahh! The animation I thought was really well done. Human-sized mecha is always nice to watch if they animate it properly. The show definitely has promise so hopefully they don't ruin it..keeping my fingers crossed XD

It looks well made, voices aren't crap, human sized mecha/armour is nice to see, a twist that only ONE man can use it.
A few things I think that won't work too out well:
A place that is filled with girls can make the show go and bend in different directions at many places, AKA lot's of misunderstandings, and if someone get's pissed and kicks him into random locker without knowing, those stuff?
A harem, it's boring with lots of girls after one guy, it takes away the meaning of one guy and makes it generic love crap that no one except 16 year old boys wishes for.
The fight between him and the brittish girl looks interesting, I hope to see a long duel, not over in a few min, like many other type of fights/battles/duels lasts.
Not turning into romance. I don't want romance and that to ruin something of this potential, if they decide to include it, they have to put it right, not randomly the girl just confess/kisses him, spreading out different parts in episodes with her trying to overcome the shyness(IF she's a shy character, that is) for actually asking him out could work very well.
The genres, Action, Mecha, Sci-Fi, Shounen, looks interesting, I've never been interested in mecha cause mostly it's gaint robots that have super lalzors and that stuff which blows a gaint city into pieces, I hope they keep it to the human scaled armour.
10-20 episode show, I don't have any real reason to not like this, afterall, it's the first episode, if the show is great, it might be a long show, or more seasons, but it's still WAAAY to early to say this, if it's decent, the count on episodes is perfectly fine.
The show has LOTS of potential and will surely be good if they don't screw it up, I really hope for something action filled and cool stuff.

Same, I've never really been interested in anything Mecha/Sci-Fi related but I decided to give this one a chance since the name seemed to get my attention hehe and it turns out, it was a good thing xD I realllllly hope they don't screw this Anime up. Nonetheless, I'll still be watching however many episodes they come out with

It's basically the common traits of Seikon no Qwaser, Chrome Shelled Regios, STAR Driver, Hyakk Ryouran Samurai Girls, A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Sora no Otoshimoto, Ookami-san and her Seven Companions, etc.

Hrm... nothing you're saying is really wrong, but I think it a bit too early to be calling the series an "abomination" just yet. True, it uses a lot of what could be said to consitute a majority of anime as of late, but that doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed. We haven't even really had a chance to delve into the story itself yet. So let's just wait a few episodes and try to give it a chance before we come to any conclusions just yet.

I feel the same way. This looks like it will become a typical harem (with good fight animations). But I'll still end up finishing the series

Yeah, but I find it hard to take enjoyment in the harem element when the main character is so dim-witted and oblivious about it. It's just no fun that way.

Personally, with the exception of the animated fight scenes, I'm enjoying the manga more than the anime right now.

this one is sort of disapponting. it's very blatantly harem with no plot twists or anything so far.. the girls are very cliche - tsundere, himesama, osananajimi, younameit - and the hero is ..eh.. not very useful.

My impression after the current episode: it's Hetalia crossover with Sky Girls with a not-so-strong male lead throw in the middle. It's like World War II with advance aerial exo-suit but with students from Japan, China, England and probably France and Germany want a piece of this Japanese boy

 

Yes, if you don't notice before, Charles it's not a dude.

High school harem count is ranking up! At least, the series is being subtle with the ecchi part. More like teasing the doujinshi out there to make some "advance" pairing relationship of the characters doujin or worst.

Graphic is pretty generic and decent for a mecha genre standard. Everybody is jumping into CG bandwagon when comes to metal to metal brawl these days. The plot is salvageable for me to continue the watch the series. I suspect they will might extend or do a second season. In the end, it's generic but slightly entertaining.

I'm actually surprised that I'm enjoying this series so far. When I watched the first episode, my first thoughts were "Oh no, not another generic major harem story". However, it's rather interesting, both the relationships between everyone (the hate and love) and also the mech aspect too, different designs and weapons.

Not too keen on the new girl though, the one with the German mech. Seems like she has a complexion for Ichika's sister xD.

Yeah the only thing that I find a little irritating is the constant addition of a girl who falls for Ichika. Hopefully, there won't be any more ahha. But out of all the girls, "Charles" is my favourite!
I'm also really interested in these fight scenes. I actually am really looking forward to more :P

Well one thing I do have to say about it is that I hope Ichika actually trains and gets good. I don't want to watch a mech anime where the dude just gets beaten around whilst we watch girls fly around being high and mighty (Yes I'm sexist). I would go watch strike witches if I wanted to see that >_>

Yeah! Since he is the little brother of a champion. I really want to see him get super good thus leading to more interesting fights! But I don't mind watching the girls fight... xD

Ahh, Infinite Boring, possibly my most hated show this season tied with Rio Rainbow Gate. I foolishly allowed the opening CG fight scene in the first episode to raise my hopes; and then have those high hopes utterly crushed in 2 episodes. Now, if there's a genre of anime I hate more than any other, it's boring harems. If a production company is going to further objectify women, the only way I'll enjoy it is if they make it hilarious, but what do we get in IS? Really really crappy jokes, cliche scenes machine-gunned back to back, a plot so plain that Helen Keller could point out what's going to happen next, and a useless tool for a main character.

Speaking of the main character, isn't this supposed to be a series about one man in a world dominated by women? Because after watching up to the latest episode, I'm not even seeing one man. Why are really stupid (in fact, from a psychological point of view I highly believe that Ichika is borderline retarded) and weak main characters so popular nowadays? It's so frustrating it hurts.

In short: Another mecha series; another season waiting for the next Gurren Lagann.

Well, reading all the Infinite Stratos' general threads on 4Chan, the show won't be promisingly good the last episodes, IF they aren't making another season, some "fun" things and such will occour(atleast the Light Novel translators/TROLLS gives us some shots here and there).

I rather like this series though i'm not a big fan of Mecha anime. The humour along with the action is pretty darn good and the harem makes it better but I can see how people would disagree.

As of the conclusion of Ep4, and seeing the previews for Ep5, I've dumped the series. I wouldn't be bothered if it was split evenly between action, plot/story, and harem, but more than half of the content involves interactions with his growing collection of girls.

Tonight I saw the first episode of Gundam Unicorn, and it wow'd me. A lot. It's nice finding a show that I actually enjoy rather than one that just kills time while I recite Gjallarhorn's damn list repeatedly in my head.

You know, the hardcore fans want to get their hands of the DVD/Blu-Ray uncut releases of the series since the quite many of "censored" scenes in the series, most notably in both recent episodes. I bet these are sought after both in legal and others.

Just as I expected, he already raking up total of 5 person in his har... I mean his team. My head is still feeling numb after latest development. High school romance with aerial powered suit in extra curriculum are a winning combination. [/sarcasm]
