Trolling is the wrong word. I'm apathetic, and if he did respond with an attack, I'd let it go.
His logic was faulty, especially his delivery in his posts. I moved on it. I'd expect any of you to do the same on a debate forum.
Besides, we are on a debate forum, correct?

Food for thought. If you are military. If you post like this. I wonder if you even know how take apart a M16, put it back together, and shoot it, let alone how you would handle extreme stress in the field.
since you don't care,

You need to keep your nose out of things you don't understand anything about. The M-16 has essentially been replaced by the M4. The only ones who really use M-16s are special forces guys who prefer them. Also, i'm not some Army or Marine field grunt. I'm a United States Navy Nuclear Propulsion Engineer/Scientist.
Now tell me, who the hell are you?
oh, and just so i don't forget to mention, In the Navy we certify in the M-14.

Well. Now. Look at this. You can be remotely civil.
Everything aside I am a classically educated young man.
My educational background isn't entirely math or sciences, but rather founded upon political sciences, philosophy, history, religious studies (Islam, Judaism, Christianity, as well as Daoism and Theravada Buddhism).
Regardless I don't believe you are an engineer. If you were you would not be posting like that. By the looks of your profile you may have a B.S, but I question that. I assume you are most likely part of the military, but nothing more beyond that.

Re: Cigarettes. Should they not be for sale?
...Hi guys.
I don't like cigarettes.
...Not much else to say after thread has been derailed hardcore from a debate about cigs to people's differing educational backgrounds. Oh and hey look, Yoda. o:

Re: cigirits*sould they be not for sail?*
OT. The next food would be nuts, and any other food that had huge allergic reactions.

EDITED:
well i guess it don't matter if he's banned

Re: cigirits*sould they be not for sail?*
I know some really smart and really stupid people that smoke. It's a fight only few can win. Once addicted, takes alot to turn back.
It's not illegal, so they can sell as they please, cuz slowly killing people isn't the same as killing people. Yeah, thats the logic there.
-
Re: Cigarettes: Should they be banned?
The OP's post seriously made me laugh. No, I don't smoke, and if people want to smoke, please don't smoke next to me. I'll never smoke any cigarette in my entire life. However if people want to smoke, then it's up to them, really. I know that some people will literally become a cranky walking zombie if they don't smoke. True story.
-
Re: Cigarettes: Should they be banned?
Why should I have to pay more for my cigarettes? I already pay ridiculous taxes on them, and I already have to smoke in odd and secluded areas when in public. It's really pathetic how far some non-smokers take it. The second hand smoke you encountered from my cigarette for those brief seconds that you walked past me are not going to ruin your life. Get over it.
-
Re: Cigarettes: Should they be banned?
I'd have to agree with Ann about second hand smoke. Unless you're a kid with a parent that smokes or your significant other smokes you're not going to have any issues with it. Don't see the problem with separating smokers and non-smokers in places like restaurants either. Worked in the past. That said, prohibition simply doesn't work. Just look at Mexico. Think the cartels would be as big of an issue if drugs where legal? Probably not. Also looked at what happened here when they tried to outlaw beer here. So simply banning something isn't going to work. Not to mention it's the government simply butting in where it doesn't need to.

The thing is I doubt many non-smokers deliberately walk past someone who is smoking. I know I always take a few strides away from them before I pass by. If someone passes by you and then complains about your smoke then that's their problem. You were minding your own business. It's when someone who is smoking decides to cut in front of one or more non-smokers and ends up blowing that nauseating smell in their face, that they start complaining about it, and for good reason. I wouldn't spew alcohol over you or your clothes, so don't do the same to me with your smoke. It's called common courtesy.

Re: Cigarettes: Should they be banned?
Cigarettes are bad m'kay?
I don't care if you smoke, just don't pump that garbage in my face.
Wanna get lungcancer? I'm not stopping ya.

Re: Cigarettes: Should they be banned?
I'm not one for smoking, but the more laws you have the less freedom you have. Who is the government to say what you can and can't eat or drink, when you can or can't sleep, etc? It's none of their business, and they'd be over using their power. Also, remember what happened with alcohol? Even though it was banned, you still had bootleggers and all that jazz. That's why the law was lifted, and alcohol is still legal. Tobacco would be the same way. People would still find ways to get it, and there would be an uproar over it becoming illegal.

Re: Cigarettes: Should they be banned?
Smoking is bad.
It causes lung cancer.

The difference between alcohol and cigarettes is that any idiot can put together a still from easily accessible materials and make bulk quantities of alcohol (or simpler yet, make beer or wine), whereas growing enough tobacco to sustain a smoking habit is much, much harder.
I say tax the living daylights out of tobacco. You can still smoke, but you're paying the huge cost to society your smoking habit is causing on your own.

You could always go somewhere else to get tobacco. Mexico would be a good place to go for that if you're from America because it's so close.
The taxes wouldn't go to anything good though, so I couldn't really see that working either. xD

Oh but it works for the most devious reasons: It gives the legal (heavily taxed) tobacco industry a monetary incentive to hunt down and report untaxed bootleg cigarettes, as they're cutting into their business. So you wouldn't even have to police it as much as an outright ban.

It'd just be declared as an outright tax like what they with sodas. It's crazy how people whined about that, but then just went with the flow. Instead of saying it was a tax, they could just use inflation as an excuse. $10 a pack, and like $130 for a box. XD

...I don't deliberately walk past non-smokers. I think it's hilarious how rude some people are about smoking. I used to smoke around campus at uni and people would go out of their way to come up to me and tell me what a disgusting, filthy, dangerous habit I had. Personally, I could care less that you think I smell like an ash tray or that you think I'm gross. I probably think you're gross too, especially if you're the type of nosy brat who feels the need to tell others how to live their lives.
Smokers have taken enough flak over their habits. :/

Um, the huge cost to society? oh please do elaborate.
Also, the taxes on tobacco products are already insane compared to other goods. Why not over tax people who drive cars? or people who add garbage to the landfill? I mean hell, we want to tax everyone who makes the world a little less healthy, right? So let's tax junk foods and water bottles, and power lines, and red meats.
(No, I am not saying that cigarettes and junk foods are the same, but they are both very bad for your health.)
