Re: Games you wish were good
My choice would be the Resident Evil franchise. I loved RE2 on gamecube I was so young at the time I thought it was terrifying! But since then the games have gotten stale and more like a slow paced tank type game. I miss the days of feeling entirely vulnerable and having 3 bullets to kill 4 zombies, looking high and low for the key to open a secret door and playing with the lights on.
Re: Games you wish were good
The Hyper Dimension Neptunia games. I really do like the concept of them I just can't really stand the games.
Re: Games you wish were good
Not really type of game problem but more on console problem lol
FPS games using controllers/analogs/joysticks or whatever you call them.
I literally suck on that game using that but it is my forte when I play it with mouse and keyboard.
I keep owning people that they would kick me because they thought I hack but when I played with ps3........ it was truly frustrating.
Re: Games you wish were good
Final Fantasy XIII. I loved the story but I really disliked the new real-time gameplay. I prefer traditional turn-based Jrpgs.

I agree with you there. I even with WRPG's would go back to turn-based once in a while.
Not that I don't mind "real-time" and all, there's a place for that. It's called the "Action RPG" witch things like Ys and Secret of Mana fit into.

Tales of Symphonia 2.
After enjoying the first so much I was really looking forward to the second. Oh wow, was I disappointed.
Re: Games you wish were good
The game for me has to banjo and kazooie nuts and bolts I wanted it to be like the old games on the 64 I remember the trailer getting me so hyped up T.T.

Final Fantasy XII. I got it for Christmas once, and it's the only FF game I've ever had the opportunity to play. Quite honestly, the story seems very good, but I can't stand the setup for fighting. -_-
I'll admit it. I'm not the most experienced gamer and that's probably partially due to my pickiness with video games. It was only recently I realized how picky I am, though.

This, except reversed. I love old-school turn-based, but constantly being on my toes is pretty exciting.
I just can't stand the story. I still haven't finished. I'm on the 3rd disc right now and I haven't touched it in over a year, and I got the game a year before that. Who knows, maybe this weekend I'll grind some more. Those huge grasslands are making me lost o_o
Re: Games you wish were good
The games I wish were good mostly come from franchises that were doing just fine until they got snapped up by greedy game publishers, and then went from genuine titles to mainstream-orientated, dumbed-down, plebeian trash. Now I'm not against mainstream-orientated games per se, don't get me wrong, but when they come at the expense of already established, quality franchises that's another matter entirely.
When I think of games that should have been better, the one example that springs straight to mind (and for some reason more than others) is Burnout Paradise, a game I was once looking forward to since I used to be an avid fan of the Burnout series. I remember when the first Burnout game was released and introduced the concept of rewarding players for taking risks (i.e. driving on the wrong side of the road against on-coming traffic); but more than that, I liked how the innovative features actually complemented the core element of racing, the risk elements remaining spectacular while never interupting the flow of gameplay. Burnout 2 was even better, boasting more content, improved graphics, and polished gameplay. But then EA bought up Criterion and thus Burnout Revenge was released; a game that was still entertaining to be fair (I bough a copy nonetheless), but at the same time, a worrying sign of things to come. Forward to Burnout Paradise and it becomes apparent that the series is much less about racing and more about trying to look cool and impressive. It typifies the kind of self indulgent, self-congratulating arrogance of most EA games and fails to deliver where it really matters. Out of comparison Burnout Paradise is by no means an awful game, but imo, it's by far the worst in the series.

I loved the Resident Evil series up to RE4; and even though RE4 itself was noticeably different to the previous RE games, with more focus on action and less on horror, I did appreciate the new sense of fear Capcom bought to the series--and to be fair, the mansion-dormitory-laboratory formula was getting a bit stale after Code Veronica. In any case, I was certainly scared of that chainsaw guy, not so much because he looked terrifying (after all, he was wearing a bag over his head), but because most of time I couldn't see the bugger and I'd have to guess where he was, all the time while hearing that spinning chainsaw of his. Those freaky Regenerators were pretty scary too...
But then Capcom released RE5 and for me this was where the series went terribly wrong--it was a "horror game" alright, but entirely for the wrong reasons. As I saw it running on my brother's PC, I couldn't believe just how much Capcom had messed up the franchise. Practically, the game changed its (original) genre overnight, from survival horror to action-shooter, and for that it's wasn't frightening anymore, as the player would too preoccupied with shooting dozens of stereotyped enemies on screen to appreciate any concievable terror. Admittedly RE4 had these elements too, but these were balanced by genuine moments of horror and suspense as well, and the game never felt boring as a result. RE6 is an even greater dissapointment in my opinion; it completely reeks of Capcom trying to go for "broad appeal" and in the process, misses the entire point of a survival horror game. RE6 is not a scary game at all, and certainly not original since Capcom seem to be more concerned with copying the competition than ensuring a good quality product. As far as I'm concerned, RE6 is a genuine cop-out, an insult to an otherwise good franchise, and represents a games publisher that would rather make a safe game for the sake of profit than a good game for the sake of entertainment--because at the end of the day, it all about making money, right Capcom?

Great idea. Good story, terrible execution. the gameplay simply sucks. i was totally looking forward to it too. It was full of great ideas. they just failed to pull em off.

Still not completely finished it ... I mean jeez, I beat Grunty at least (which was hard given that she practically cheats), but some of the stuff just boggles my mind. Tangents, ho~!
'side from N&B and RR:U, nothing off the top of my head as to games that let me down. Well, of course I can sit here and wish all day that RR:U had better multiplayer, but that's just a pipe-dream ... and jeez, I'm not even going to mention 'that FlatOut game'.... even though I just did. Just glad I heard Bugbear are making their own derby game again... none of that repackaged Ridge Racer meets Burnout meets FlatOut meets Split/Second stuff, thankfully.
Re: Games you wish were good
My Legend of Zelda games, I always play it but there's always a part that gets me stuck, and then I just give up ==" Like, seriously, I feel like my Twilight Princess game is going to take me forever! And I've had the game for years =="
Re: Games you wish were good
"Final Fantasy V" and "Final Fantasy VII" were terrible. I was so disappointed in them. I have NO IDEA how VII became so popular and got a motion Picture and two Playstation 2 Sequels. I did like "Advent Children." I own it on Blu-Ray Disc. I liked "Dirge of Cerberus" and "Crisis Core", though. But "Final Fantasy VII" for the Playstation was a freaking Fraud. Once it was over, I was SO PISSED. I am like, "What the F.? This is it? I played seventy Hours for THIS ENDING?"

Did you like "Legend of Mana?" For the Playstation? I loved it but never finished. It was one of my favourites. I never played "Secret of Mana." How was it?

I thought Legend of Mana was alright. It was worth the purchase but it paled in comparison to Secret of Mana IMO. Seiken Densetsu 3 was great as well but you kind of need to go the emulation route or get a reproduction cart.. Unless you know Japanese then the Japanese version would work just fine.
