I like the fact it hasn't changed because the difficulty of this was was too daunting for him.
You need to let the dead spirit of a great warrior posess your body, and thus you become the avatar. After all, who would want you around?
Step one- Go to settings

Step two- Scroll down a bit and click 'edit avatar'

Step three- hit "use custom avatar"
You can upload an avatar from a website, upload your own from your computer, or use on of the pre-made avatars the site provides
