A Minecraft movie appears to be in the works.

It's a bit old, but I'd never seen it before. I found it just now while googling "minecraft movie" (without the quotes). I was trying to see if there were any fake minecraft movies fans made (like fans often do about other games), and was shocked when I ran across the above mentioned CNet article. It appears that the guy who made Minecraft has decided, in light of the success of the other building block toy based movie "The Lego Movie", to go ahead and make a movie based on his Lego like game Minecraft. The studio to produce it will be Warner Brothers, according to the article.

I sincerely doubt that there will be a Minecraft movie as there is no story to Minecraft.

A MC movie wouldn't be hard to do. A guy named Steve is banished from his village one day. He has to survive on his own, eventually he for whatever reason goes to slay the Ender Dragon and is welcomed back into the village. The End.

At the end you find out a kid was playing Minecraft and was controlling the entire story..
