[SGI News] Man Attacks and Robs Two People For Staring At Him.. Read On For Punchline

A 20-year-old man attacked and robbed two people after they stared at his Winnie the Pooh costume, police said.

Masayuki Ishikawa was hanging out on a Tokyo street corner after midnight, accompanied by two friends dressed as a mouse and a panther, Japanese police said.

"It's uncommon to see people dressed up like this, so the victims were watching them.

"Then the perpetrator came up and said 'What are you staring at?'" a police spokesman said.

Ishikawa and his friends beat up the two victims and stole cash from them, police said.

He said the group had apparently donned the unusual garb last month because they had run out of clean clothes.

I have one big question. Was he really out of clothes? Or were they a bunch of furries sick of being labeled as weird?

That's just weird...? wearing a costume at min-night? no way they can run out of clean clothes, even if i run out of clean clothes i will still wear the dirty ones i guess they have their reasons. why would they wear that and go out of the streets? lolx funny story

damn thats funny, getting beaten by cartoons that teach little kids to be nice to others, wow. If I ran out of clothes, I'd just stay home and sleep, or ask a friend if I can borrow a pair of pants at least.

What the...Honestly I don't understand people these day's what happened to the good ol' days when we used to get along and sing coombaya with a guitar! Huh? Jeez. How I miss people getting along, now it's just war, and punching people in the face because of their certain opinions on a costume. ;_; How sad. We don't need people like them!

Mabye they have that phobia of dirty things idk... lol

but ya never the less weird story, but may not have been because of them being dressed up or staring at someone, the thief could just be mentally unstable and decided on a whim to rob them.

There needs to be a dramatic re-enactment of this, and it needs to be filmed. I don't know what's funnier: the thought that the victims stared so much as to agitate the perpetrator, or the thought of Winnie The Pooh and Mickey Mouse and The Pink Panther mugging somebody, or the thought of Winnie The Pooh and Mickey Mouse and The Pink Panther hanging out on a street corner at midnight. Sounds like a pulp crime/film noir parody in the making.

It's bad enough that they got mugged, but even as uncomfortable and annoying as it is to be stared at, anyone would've at least glanced at such an unusual sight - it'd be the highlight of my night. It'd really suck to get robbed for being caught glancing at the wrong time, and for it to be misinterpreted as a stare.

These criminals are exceptionally dumb. If you're going out at night dressed in extravagant costumes, expect to get stared at - otherwise, maybe it's worth considering making it an indoor night. The fact that they decided to commit a crime over it is another baffling error - a witness description like that is likely to stand out. If their reason for wearing such a costume is because of a lack of (clean) clothes, then ditching the costume probably wasn't an option, either - another poor oversight.

Their clothes must have been exceptionally dirty. "My armoire fell into a cesspool" dirty. Or maybe they're all germ freaks.

Don't they have something like a goodwill or someplace where you can give your clothes away in japan, where people can buy or get it for low cost?

There's not much to say for this. It's weird and the world just keeps getting stranger. I must admit that you wouldn't expect to see "Winnie the Pooh" join the side of crime, lol. Still yet, I'd think wearing a dirty costume of a cartoon character would cause more people to stare than just dirty clothes.
