Re: Violent riots brake out in London
We only need reduction of rights in times of riots such as this.

Re: Violent riots brake out in London
Typical, it happens in Glasgow whenever there's an old firm game and it never gets mentioned outside of the local press but as soon at it hits the fan south of the border.......

This.
Oh, and water cannons. I was talking to a friend earlier and he said 'Two words: Water. Cannon. Last time one of those was used at a riot, there wasn't a riot for quite a while after."
I'm pretty sure even a gang of drunken chavs won't want to risk getting hammered by a barrel of freezing-cold, hard water, just for the sake of nicking a TV from a store that someone else broke into.
And yes, these riots are happening everywhere now. I've heard as far north as Manchester and Liverpool ... I just hope my street stays quiet :|

No offense ... but what's happening in England tends to be normal behaviour in Scotland. ;)

Never. Ever. Give. Up. Your. Rights. You'll never get them back. Just look at the "temporary" measures in post-9/11 America. Fat chance they'll ever be revoked.

Re: Violent riots brake out in London
I'm getting tired of hearing about riots on a different continent on the news all day, everyday honestly, it'll blow over and they'll get over it. People are acting like they've never experienced a riot of some sort before (maybe not personally but we've all heard about 3 major ones in this year alone in many countries.)

Well, if we have to deal with the US issues being streamed all over our news, then you deal with our issues being streamed over your news. End of response.

I'm not saying that we should give up your rights. We just need to reduce them slightly, just enough to help with the situation.

Same thing. You give an inch and they take a mile.

I don't care about US issues for one, and second I'm not American. I go to school in the US and live here for the time being but that is it. lol

Re: Violent riots brake out in London
Well these riots arn't just localised to one area like previous ones in the 80's these are nationwide. God help us seriously we need devine intervention right about now.

Which "God" do we ask for help here? Plus, compare these to the problems of the world, the events taking place on the streets of London along with the various cities aren't really worth the time of a higher being.

Exactly....
Why are these riots getting so much blatant media sympathy and news time compared to past riots from just months ago against dictator-like governments? Hearing about these riots everyday you'd think they were worse than they really are.
I guess Europe is more deserving of public sympathy than those countries that actually had a reason to act up against their gov. just this year..

Nah. It's camera related. There were very few cameras around during the north african protests (and there wasn't much way to transmit the pictures out of the affected countries, due to internet brown outs). London is full of cameras and camera crews. Hence, media attention.

Re: Violent riots brake out in London
well it could be due to the fact that riots to this scale are very uncommon in europe whilst in Libya there is always constant unrest

Actually, Libya was fairly stable before crap hit the fan. I'm sure if the UK plunges into a civil war, in 6 months there won't be much reports of it either.

Re: Violent riots brake out in London
Well if a civil war does take place I know which side I'm taking and thats with the Monarchy

Re: Violent riots brake out in London
To be honest the riots are just stupid kids trying to cause damage nothing political to them unless its some political faction that are staging these riots so that they give some order to clear them up and are seen as heroes and are elected into power like in the film V for Vendetta
another riot / mob related song

Strikingly similar to how the Paris riots started. Some guy was shot by the police. Then random rioters joined and caused havoc. Again much like Paris.
This is basically what happens when a society has been neglecting a generation for too long. If they see no future for themselves, they figure they may as well take society with them on their way down. Britain should stop complaining about chavs and start asking themselves why they have so many of them.

Re: Violent riots brake out in London
Some guy in a taxi cab got shot and killed by police on Totternham. Nobody knows why, and there was originally a peaceful protest there, but then mobs showed up and used it as an excuse to start nationwide riots.
