What did growing up teach you?
Some of the things that I learned when I became an adult:
- There are some things in life that you have to accept, so you could learn to be content.
- Always expect the worst outcomes, so you'd never get disappointed when they actually happen (or if it went better than your worst expectations)
- You always have to compromise and make sacrifices.

Be buff, stay black, fight the white man. Stay away from dim stanky little booty girls.

People grow in height. ... over time

Re: What did growing up teach you?
1: Complaining or running away from your problems doesn't get you anywhere
2: If you're not willing to put any effort into the things that you do you're not going to get anywhere
3: Most of the anxieties and fears that you have when you're younger will seem trivial in later life and will eventually pass you by
4: You need to take the advice of those older or higher up than you

Re: What did growing up teach you?
That there's no magical "I'm suddenly an adult" moment. Everyone else is winging it and learning as they go just the same as I am.

Re: What did growing up teach you?
So far:
- Actually grow up. Don't be an over-grown teenager. Don't goof around. Dress and act professionally. This is how you get moolah. It's not selling out, it's buying in.
- Be positive. It's very easy to be cynical and negative out of habit. This makes you miserable. Cut negative people out of your life, and replace them with positive people.
- Stop using other people as blue-prints for life. You can do literally whatever you want. There is no right way.
- It's literally impossible to understand what teenagers are saying. Like, what the hell.
- As an adult, you can eat unlimited quantities of bacon whenever you want. This is a good thing.
- You can travel to places. Like, go to another city over the weekend. Nobody is going to stop you. You can just do it.

Re: What did growing up teach you?
Teach your kids to be self-sufficient jerks, lest they become entitled socialist weasels.
Question everything.
Abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym.

Re: What did growing up teach you?
Id have to say, when life gets you down you have to hang tough.. you face heart aches, depression and abuse threw your childhood. but theirs always a reason. it's to make you tougher and it makes you become you're own person, you're own personality. that's why were all unique.
Also, life taught me to trust people even when your gut says dont. you can never judge a book by its cover. so why should you judge a person by their personality.

Re: What did growing up teach you?
Not every kid on the team deserves a trophy. It's like giving honor role to every student who attends school, regardless of performance.
-
Re: What did growing up teach you?
That the only person that you should really trust is yourself. :(
-
Re: What did growing up teach you?
You can't shelter yourself your whole life. (I did that SO much growing up.) Besides, you may like it on the unsheltered side. That's where all the good stuff is.
-
Re: What did growing up teach you?
1. You cannot gain something without sacrificing something.
2. Hard work pays off.
3. The only person you can truly trust if yourself.
4. Anime is the bomb. :)

Re: What did growing up teach you?
Oh yeah, I also learned a few other, slightly more important things.
1) Learn to dance while you're drowning.
2) Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should.
3) Prioritize everything.
4) Learn from other's mistakes.
5) Keep your record as clean as possible. (Mine is still spotless.) This is exceedingly rare where you live.
6) Don't go to grandma's unless it's absolutely necessary, and do not, I repeat, DO NOT ever mention the other side of the family in her presence.
7) Being an adult sucks.
8) I am probably going to be a gambling addict.

Re: What did growing up teach you?
-No matter where you work it will always be full of morons who will get on your nerves.
-It takes a long time to build trust but only seconds to destroy it.
-It's going to sometimes feel like everything is going wrong for you but at some point everything will go you way. You just have to be patient.
-If you want something you've never had, you've got to done something you've never done.
-
Re: What did growing up teach you?
- Never complain, no matter what circumstance you're in just never complain. Only act.
- Don't think. Don't think about your future. Don't think about your past. The past is inevitable and a learning curve, The future depends on how you act in the present.
- Live in the moment
- It's so easy to think negatively and harder but better to think positively
- There is a strategy to everything
- Life is not a race

No, seriously. Society never did anything for me when I was growing up. :/

Re: What did growing up teach you?
Honestly? It taught me that adults are generally less trustworthy than children.
