Anybody here a fan of Star Trek? I am! (Is this the right section to post this thread?)
Never really cared for the series. Was a little to boring and seemed to drag thing out a little to long. Plus not a lot of action in my opinion.
What do you mean, "not a lot of action"?
Just thought the action was kinda lame.
Oh, ok. I still watch it, anytime I want. Of course, most of the series are about exploring, one has a war.
Nope. Never actually seen it, though it plays on TV all the time.
I love the books. And some of the movies. I haven't really seen a lot of the episodes though...unless you count reading the novel form of them. I'm looking forward to the new movie, it sounds like it will be very different from the other movies.
I used to, when I was younger. After I realized that almost every plot device is just deus ex machina in disguise, that pretty much killed the entire thrill of the series for me. It doesn't help that everything after The Next Generation was crap anyhow.
Used to watch the newer series (the one with cpt. Pickard in it), never liked the old ones. But ever since the star trek geek invasion started, i abbandoned all hope and favoritism for it.
I'd be a fan if I could ever manage to watch the first series in order.
I'm a fan of movies two and six, maybe movie four if I'm feeling just right. The actual TV series have never really excited me, except when I was young and Star Trek Voyager was the only 'grown up' show I could watch. Also:
"What would Picard do?"
"Bore it to death with a moral lecture."
"What would Kirk do?"
"Tear his shirt and get in a fistfight."
Fan myself after aishiteru got me into it. At first I was thinking it would be like the nerdy crap that always gets mocked, but hey here I am. Where's the guy dressed as Mr. Spock?
Nothing will ever beat Kirk's fighting moves.
I remember TNG being a cornerstone of my childhood, even if I wasn't exactly comprehending it at the time.
I still enjoy watching TNG and Enterprise from time to time.
I've watched every movie and series after TNG. I hear there's a new movie coming this Christmas. A new adventure for Kirk!
I'm old-school so I like to use the term Trekkie.
I've watched every series from Star Trek, to TNG, to DS9, to Voyager and Enterprise.
I've seen all the films and still have the first 4 on VHS.
Unfortunately, all my VHS copies of TNG have long since died. T_T
Ah, well, someday I'll get them on DVD or whatever the newest thing is when I have time and money to spend on it again.
my siblings are currently watching a seventh season episode of Voyager. They also like Star Trek.
I agree. No matter how much scientific reasoning you throw at me on why and how a reaction is happening in a certain situation in the series it still doesn't compare to the fact that a libe saber looks way more awsome than one of those phaser devices; and at least with a libe saber you can get in a decent physical exchange. All a phaser does is instantly disassociate the atoms of something which means the matter is vaporized within seconds, leaving hardly any room for action.
Absolute rubbish.
Although I quite enjoyed watching some of the really older ones which I saw once or twice.
Voyager was maybe decent for one season. It had a few nice episodes, but overall didn't live up to the potential. DS9 also, I most enjoyed during seasons 4 - 6, because they got the Defiant (and Worf) then, and season 7 was too heavily about the prophets for me to enjoy it. TNG I liked a lot, followed by classic trek. Can't stand Enterprise at all though.
That pretty much sums it up.
Enterprise had a few rare good episodes in the later seasons that were good primarily because they were largely amusing winks to the classic series.
I think TNG was good because it was plain well written. It didn't try to be something it wasn't -- it was just Star Trek. DS9 tried to be Babylon 5 a bit too much. Enterprise tried to be both credible high-end sci-fi and classic star trek (and failed miserably at both).
I wonder why, like Star Trek: The Original Series, Enterprise ended abruptly. Was it because of the ratings?
Enterprise was boring and in no way original....unlike the original. It lacked in many areas. I liked the original series because a lot more went on in the episodes as it was their first, and first impressions are everything. I'm not a fan but I think the older ones were many times better than Enterprise. That was crap!
