Forum in Dublin on maternal health: Abortion is never medically necessary to save the
Quote:
AN INTERNATIONAL symposium on maternal healthcare in Dublin at the weekend has concluded that abortion is never medically necessary to save the life of a mother.
Eamon O’Dwyer, professor emeritus of obstetrics and gynaecology at NUI Galway and a conference organiser, said its outcome would provide “clarity and confirmation” to doctors and legislators dealing with these issues.

Yeah, the fact many of them have anti-abortion ties discredits this as far as I'm concerned.
Re: Forum in Dublin on maternal health: Abortion is never medically necessary to save
It would be nice if the article had some relevant information as to how they came to that decision. I personally, wouldn't say it is 'never' necessary, but I am aware of instances where an abortion would be an option to save the mother's life but not the only option. It's an interesting point though, since abortion can also lead to mortality complications for the mother, but again the article doesn't quite elaborate.
Re: Forum in Dublin on maternal health: Abortion is never medically necessary to save
In medical terms, I cannot understand what "abortion is never medically necessary to save the life of a mother." means. But I think I get the whole thing like this: "If a pregnant woman is risking clinical death during pregnancy, let's only give her strong, risky drugs, assuming they will either kill the fetus or not damage it at all. Then, if the fetus makes it till birth, damaged/deformed or not, it's keeper!"
I always thought Irish people were dumb douches. This doesn't change my mind at all.
Re: Forum in Dublin on maternal health: Abortion is never medically necessary to save
as i understand about this is that , some time during the delivery there are some complications which cannot medically possible to save both child and mother, people related to medical field like doctors will never want to abort or( kill is the same thing for me) the child but sometimes it happen.

We uphold that there is a fundamental difference between abortion and necessary medical treatments that are carried out to save the life of the mother, even if such treatment results in the loss of life of her unborn child.
Yeah, the difference is about 9-months long.
