Wallpaper of the Month [July 2011] - 1st Prize: $25 gift certificate

Theme: Leiji Matsumoto

This month's contest is a bit special, because at the end of it, we will be celebrating Princess Minako's birthday. Because of this event, I decided the theme for this month's contest should be her favorite manga artist, the almost legendary Leiji Matsumoto. So, yes, this month's contest is somewhat my/our not so secret "super secret" present for her birthday.
But who is Leiji Matsumoto? Matsumoto is famous for his space operas such as Space Battleship Yamato, Queen Emeraldas, Captain Harlock and Galaxy Express 999. His style is characterized by tragic heroes; tall, slender, fragile-looking heroines with strong wills and in some cases, god-like powers; and a love of analog gauges and dials in his spacecraft.
What I want you to do is; find a character designed by Mr. Matsumoto and make a wallpaper out of it. Since I'm sure most of you know nothing about the artist in question, I suggest you to look about his works on wikipedia.

RULES FOR PARTICIPANTS:

1. The wallpaper must be your own work (if not you get the boot :p);
2. The wallpaper must not be already on AW;
3. Animation may not be used;
4. Hentai will not be accepted, however mild ecchi is allowed;
5. Only Anime and Games related wallpapers will be accepted;
6. Allowed sizes are 4:3 (minimum 1280x960), 5:4 (minimum 1280x1024), 5:3 (wide screen, minimum 1280x768), 16:9 (wide screen, minimum 1280x720) and 16:10 (wide screen, minimum 1280x800). There is no top limit, just keep it within the aspect ratios (more info about the ratios here)!!!
7. All entries must have "Animewallpapers.com" along with your forum name on the bottom of your entry (all of the submissions will be compared to the AW.com regulations and uploaded on the site);
8. All posts must include the anime/game name the characters on their wallpaper are from. If the characters don't belong anywhere categorize them as "Miscellaneous";
9. All posts must include the links to the original stocks used;
10. You are allowed to submit only one wallpaper, however you can submit more different aspect ratios of the same wallpaper;
11. You can change your wallpaper as many times as you wish until we close the submission thread (this thread) by editing your post;
12. By entering, you are giving the Anime Globe Productions LLC irrevocable right to use your entry through site promotion and so on (Artists will still be credited).

• Submissions are to be submitted into this thread;
• This thread is for submissions and questions only. Each post without a submission or a question posted will be deleted and depending of the moderator's decision, the user may receive an infraction. Comments will be allowed in the results thread;
• The submission thread closes July 31;
• For stocks check the Resources sticky or the Uploads subforum (don't forget to give appropriate credit on the wallpaper for extractions used).

Happy early birthday Princess Minako!

A few people came to me complaining that they cannot find any good stocks, so I'd like to point you all to MiniTokyo, which has quite some nice images to use and the Resources sticky, which includes a collection of links to other image sites where you might find good stocks.

I formally apologize for my obsession with obscure anime and mangaka. But use this contest to really explore my deep love for leiji matsumoto. He is talented and his artwork is exceptional. His stories are as beautiful as his art.

He mixes space and westerns amazingly. And find comfort knowing that even kaitou has yelled at me for liking obscure hard to find anime. Thank you to everyone who enters. Seeing a legends work appreciated and used in walling makes my heart smile. This is a wonderful birthday present.

None of the drawings are from macross. These are all from the mangaka leiji matsumoto. Please do not spam the wotm entry thread.

I tried! Everything made from scratch, I just couldnt think of anything that would help this wallpaper more, without pushing it over the edge in terms of how much is going on.
