Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
I never really heard of K-Pop but that will most definitely change when SeeU is released, as for the list of bands you made I have heard of them, SHINee & 2NE1.
As for the video the uploader made it so I can't watch this video in my country. :<
Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
I could've sworn we had a k-pop thread.
Well I like the following
4 Minute
T-ara
F(x)
SNSD
2NE1
After School
Big Bang
Super Junior
MBLAQ
U-kiss
Miss A
Teen Top
kan Mi Youn
2PM
..And more...
Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
I'm not huge into K-pop but I like SNSD, Lee Hyori. I went to high school with the singer G.na. She was a few years older then me but I talked to her the odd time ;p
Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
To be honest I've only recently got into K-Pop. But I've become addicted to 2NE1 and Epik High. I also quite like e.via. Both really good bands. Although I hate SNSD. I think they're annoying

Epik High? I've never heard of them. Are they a boy band or girl band? By the way, have you seen the video for Ugly by 2NE1? I hate both the song and video. It ruined they're whole confident attitude that they had going on. :l SNSD have catchy tunes, although they all seem like bimbo-like in interviews and shows.

After School
Orange Caramel
Jay Park

Epik High's a boy Hip-Hop group.
I didn't mind Ugly. It was the weakest of the songs on the Mini-Album, I will admit that
Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
Weird. I used the search engine before putting up another thread, and I didn't find any so I figured there weren't any. I'm looking up Epik High right now, their song "One". It's pretty good. It has an interesting flow to it. Any other recomendations from them?
Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
@Ribbon
Fly, Paris and She Doesn't Know are some songs I like from them.

It's about a year old. Wouldn't worry about it. K-pop's really exploded in widespread popularity this past year so a new thread's cool.
Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
The only K-pop I've listened to has been while watching the GSL hosted in Seoul. I only remember T-ara as one of the artists.
Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
Funny story: I recently moved in with my BF because I withdrew from my uber $40k a year college and he was close and there are more job opportunities here than back home plus my second choice cheap college is here too.
Continuing... He has 3 other guy roomies in this apartment and one of them just discovered kpop and was playing it while discussing the dances with another of the roomies. And I walk up joining in because I heard "para para" Then realized SNSD's- Oh! was playing so I started dancing and singing to it and my BF walks up like "she knows it!??!!! Quick play another one!!" and so the roommate goes to his computer and clicks on another random one and some other song that I knew and my bf was like "oh gawd what have you done!" xD lawls. It was just weird in an apartment full of guys.

I agree. People that I wouldn't expect to like it, end up asking me to go to their SMtown gathering to get them into Canada. It's crazy. I remember back when I started liking it, thanks for G-Dragon and his hit Heartbreaker. Gosh.. and then how hot of a dancer Taeyang was. I died a little. D:
Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
I swear there was a K-pop thread. Meh. No matter. [:
So my faves are:
- BIGBANG 빅뱅| ビグバン
- SNSD 소녀시대| 少女時代
- 2NE1 투애니원|
- 4minute 포마낫|
- Super Junior 슈퍼주니어| スーパージュニア
- SHINee 샤이니| シャイニー
- 2PM
- Boyfriend (they don't have an official color, YET) 보이프렌드
- Miss A 미쓰에이|
I'm planning on adding Secret, f(x), and Tohoshinki/DBSK to the list as well as other bands. But I'm partly restricting myself since I think I'm already dedicated to too many bands. XD But I am mostly a V.I.P~!
Fave solo artists:
- Jay Park 박재범
- SE7EN 세밴
- BoA
- Gummy 거미
- Rain 비
But I'm not really keen on the solo artists. Except Jay Park. xD
I am also looking forward to the Korean Vocaloid: SeeU~!
Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
@OtakuInu!!! - Okay. To be honest. Boyfriend scares the living poopie out of me. They remind me of plastic dolls in their song Boyfriend. I don't like them at all. >_< It's SHINee ALL THE WAY FOR ME!
Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
Eversince I discovered kpop I was like.. why did I even listen to jpop?
Jpop looks so dulls these days, compared to kpop.
I don't really know why artists like BoA decided to do more Japanese albums.
Because it makes her imagine look dull really. I prefer her in Korea.

That's to please the Japanese fans, which are just as numerous as the Korean ones. Kind of how Se7en decided to try to make a debut in America, to please his many American and english fans.
Also, if I created a Kpop group, do you think many people would join? :3

How do you mean? If you were the manager.. or if you were in the group itself?
I would love to be a judge on selectiondays for group scouting.
I'd really love to select and make a new guy or girl group.
Last few groups were so poorly picked. They can't compare to the SuJu, DBSK etc.
And the problem too is that there are too many of those groups.
They have no personal ID anymore, they all look the same if you ask me.

Honestly, I like SuJu and all but they aren't all that great. Most of them besides Eunyeuk (Which is my favorite) and mediocore dancers. I can also count like three or four that can actually singer above average. But they have the MOST ADDICTIVE SONGS OF LIFE. OwO;

They are all their own personality.
Can't really say that of Girls Generation.
Their voices all look a like and most of them sing only 2 lines per song.
Ofcourse that happens to Super Junior aswell, I admit that.
However, I think all of those groups could be cut into half an still survive.
I actually recently realized how interesting 2PM is.
Because I've seen some of them in a drama. Dream High I think.
Then I started to discover those guys. I was more known to 2AM.
Am I the only one who is late discovering them .. or ?

SuJu was originally supposed to be split up into 3 separate groups soon after they debuted. It was some new exposure thing SM Entertainment was trying to do but their popularity with the international community was so bloody insane they remained as a unit.
For SNSD like you said, there's 9 of them. I'm surprised if some of them get any lines. The personality thing is a bit of a stretch. After watching Yuri/Sunny in IY, Seohyun in WGM, Tayeon on Win Win!, the rest on Strong Heart, Happy Together etc, etc, they all have very different personalities. Might just be a matter of knowing one group over the other, because I've said the same of SJ in the past. I'm sure they're all great guys though.
DBSK are very vocally strong for idols. That I can agree with.

A bit. They've been around for a while, and besides that weird little thing with Jaebom, they've got a great image. I actually really enjoy their variety shows. Loved them in Idol Army and the 2PM show was decent. Wooyoung/Taecyeon in Dream High were pretty good.
Milky couple ftw.

Well, that is your opinion. :]
And about the why they need to debut in Japan thing. I think it's also because they could rake in more money that way. I really like them making Japanese songs though. Japan is my first love afterall.
Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
You guys check out SHINee Japanese PV for Lucifer? I thought it wasn't to bad but I still love the original better.
Re: Not J-pop... but K-pop?
Im not really a Kpop listener but one of my favourite singers does sing in Korean as well as Japanese. I love all her stuff tbh
