Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
For the people on AF who HAVE graduated, please explain how it felt to graduate High School and describe your graduation. Was it a happy moment for you?
If you have yet to graduate I have decided to be nice enough to post a second question for those people.
Second Question: Are you looking forward to your graduation? Have you created a lifetime moments in school?
For people who just did not graduate ..ever.. I have also decided to give you the chance to answer a question.
Third Question: Like eating apples? (No problem guys/girls!)
Me: Damn. I remember being so worried of tripping during my graduation and didn't want to go. I am very happy and thankful people talked me into going as I would of regretted not going to graduation for life. I was happy to finally close the book on that chapter of my life, but damn saying goodbye to some friends was a tough one on me. Oh well. I'm happy I created lifetime memories with some of them and they will always have a place in my heart.
You really do miss school once you leave.

All I gotta say my graduation was great. It wasn't hosted at the school itself like many schools do (because Dr. Phillips >>> any school in Florida lol) but instead in the Amway Center (aka the Orlando Magic's stadium) but no one knows about sports in this forum but I digress). It was fun and sad as well.
It's not like I am out of touch with a lot of my friends though.
Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
I remember being really, really hot. Was done in the main gym on a really hot day. The robe with dress clothes and no AC is not a fun combination. So yeah, mostly remember the heat. Wish they had done it outside since that many people in one room probably wasn't helping anything.
Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
I remember thinking that now I have the perfect reason never to see any of my classmates ever again and could live my life free to construct my skull fortress and tamper with the natural order like I always dreamed.
Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
Hmm I actually enjoyed my graduation. It was really fun. Only downside was it was very humid, had been raining a lot around the time of graduation (florida + May/spring = RAIN).. Ours was outside at our football stadium. Everyone I was sitting nearby got real into cheering for certain people we were worried wouldn't be cheered for, it was a group effort and turned out really nice. I look really mad in one of the photo's though.
I didn't really want to go because I figured it be a waste of time. However both of my older brothers didn't go to theirs so my mom really insisted on me attending mine. Don't regret it/was fun.
Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
Ours was held in a theatre, where we often mandatory had to go and watch a play. There was an open bar of bar and wine, wich was very much to me and my friends liking.
We got our hats and certificates and did the whole 'throw hats in the air like you just don't care' thingy. Wich was fun none the less. Afterwards me and my friends went to party at some of our favorite clubs.
What I remember most of it is that I had a great time, no goodbye's are more fun than drunken ones.
Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
After reading everyone's posts I feel like I'm gonna buzzkill the entire thread. I didn't attend my graduation, which was horrible because my mom paid for tickets to go. I remember the school gave the option for students to sign up to sit next to their friends and not a single person asked for me to sit next to them. I was so overwhelmed with a lot of stuff and I didn't want to be sitting next to complete strangers and watching everyone else with their friends, so I didn't go.

As soon as I figure out the zoning codes that will allow me to set the foundations I will be good to go. But I dont think the guys out the County Office will approve my alligator mote.

Just tell them they're free to remove them but have to do it themselves.
Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
That was like 9 years ago. Hell if I remember.
Or was it 9? Maybe 8. Time sure flies, anyway.

Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
It was boring as hell. My class was pretty large so it took FOREVER and I sat around a bunch of people I either didnt like or know, so I didnt have my friends to chat with. I just sat there, waiting. Overall it took almost 4 hours. I shouldve been smart and brought a handheld or something.
Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
My high school graduation I wasn't looking forward to. Sure, I was leaving that hell hole, but it meant I wasn't gonna see my friends for a while, and I didn't wanna sit there listening to people I didn't give two damns about talk about how much their high school was awesome cause they kissed enough butt to pass when they should've failed many times over.
Fast forward to college, I had mixed feelings about this one. I was about to leave the bubble of my university and venture out into the real world. At the same time though, it didn't feel like a graduation. Even though I was in my robes, seated next to all my English professors that I love dearly, I didn't feel like I was graduating. Even after the ceremony was over and I shook the hands of all my professors, I didn't feel like I had finished college. I went back to my dorm and sat in my bed, thinking it was the last time I'd be packing up to move back home. Suddenly, like a ton of bricks it hit me. Those 5 years were over, and I felt this nasty sense of limbo. I was done with college, but I didn't have a plan on what to do like everyone else around me. That night I was by myself, and I felt this immense sense of sadness, anger, yet happiness.
Almost a year later, it still feels weird to say I'm done with college. Then again, I'll be going back next fall, so we'll see how that plays out.

Mostly I remember it feeling weird, and spending some time wandering randomly around familiar buildings I figured I might never be in again.

Pffff. I don't think I ever missed high school. Once I was off to college I didn't even come back for summers. I liked my family plenty and would visit for a while on the holidays, but college was awesome from the first day I showed up at my dorm.
College graduation was bittersweet, but it was generally overshadowed by getting married shortly afterwards.
For grad school "graduation" involved turning in forms and my thesis before heading straight off to my new job, and them sending my diploma to the wrong place first.

Pick an endangered/threatened species of alligator and tell them you're engaged in a "green" environmental project and they'll probably give you enough funding to support the fortress too.
...I was joking, but actually I'm pretty sure that would work...
Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
Being almost 10 years ago, I still remember it pretty well. I was lucky enough that my best friend's last name is alphabetically next to mine, and it was my schools first graduating class. So the rules were pretty easy to bend and we for away with throwing beach balls and tortillias during speeches and other stuff. It was also hot as hell because Arizona sucks in May. I still see most of my friends on a regular basis so it doesn't feel that long ago. I was happy to be done with it, but I regret not taking advantage of my time there.
Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
Oh man, it seems like 2008 was just yesterday xD
How did I feel at graduation... happy, scared, uncertain.
Happy because I didn't have many friends in my graduating class, they were mostly at least two years older than me, so I had nothing to miss by graduating. And being a small town, only had a class size of 160 or so I believe. I was happy to finally get out into the world. Small town girl with big dreams I suppose you could say.
Scared and uncertain because I had no idea what I wanted to do for college and everybody kept on pushing me to decide on things that I had no idea about, and telling me to go to this school or that school 'because of reasons'. It was very frustrating. I was scared of taking the wrong path or failing at adulthood somehow.
As for the ceremony itself, it was nothing special honestly. I couldn't wait for it to be over and get out of the stuffy, over-crowded gym. I just felt like another drone when I walked up to get my diploma. I didn't want to be there at all.
If I had it my way, I would have gotten my GED at 15 or 16 and started college early, but my parents refused and made me stay all four years because they didn't want me to miss out of experiences... lol.

Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
When it came to my high school graduation, I share the same sentiments of those of you who wanted to get out of that rat hole. One of my carpentry classmates literally jumped for joy on the last day of class. Never have I seen him so happy before lol.
Graduation was kind of fun, because my mom was snapping pics of my friends and I together and I was taking pics of classmates and friends. It was a nice day out, but we all had to sit in the gym. My last name was in the L's, but we planned to stay for the whole thing (after all, this could be your last time to say good bye to some people). And before getting our diplomas, we had to sit through tons and tons of speeches. As if there weren't enough people giving speeches, they decided to make their speeches lengthy. The class valedictorian cried during her speech (goes to show some people actually love the heck out of school).
Anyways, it felt great finally walking up there, receiving my diploma, exchanging good lucks and good byes, snapping even more pics, and finally getting the heck out of there!
Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
Didn't have money and parents wouldn't pay. So I never went.
Re: Your Graduation: How was it and how did it feel?
I didn't even go to the graduation ceremony for high school. I do have a high school diploma, however. I just didn't attend the graduation ceremony.
