Another marriage legality question~

You are standing in line to get a marriage liscence. Only one couple stands between you and the document you seek. But the clerk is having a very serious conversation with the gentleman in front of you. The hushed tones get louder and louder until you can finally hear what it's about. You don't really want to listen, but you are curious as to what the hold up is.

"I'm sorry, but I can't issue you the liscence."

"Why not?"

"Marriage is between a man and a woman, state law is very clear on that..."

"I am legally a man! My birth certificate, my drivers liscence, even my passport says so."

"Yes, but I'm afraid a sex change doesn't qualify you for a marriage lisence."

Le gasp! This gentleman used to be a lady!



Okay, so did that get your attention? XD What do you think? Should a couple that was once considered homosexual until one had a sex change be allowed to get married? Discuss like adults please! Obviously this is directed towards those who live in states where gay marriage is illegal.

If they denied a man and a woman, because the woman used to be a man, or because the man used to be a woman, I think, that is completely rediculous.

I like the whole religion seperate from state thing. Unless it offends our dear President, or has to do with same sex marriages.

You know that men/men woman/women getting married in the ancient times, or just being gay in general, having a mix of both sexes, was considered ethereal? They were usually the ones chosen to be spiritual leaders, and it was a gift?

You know that actually is a good question but personally I think it should be the same as if the person didn't get a sex change. In my eyes, they are still the sex they were born as. Along with that I say all marriage should be allowed. Straight, gay, transexual, whatever.

I don't accept whatever results of a sex change operation due to one as of yet unchangeable part: Chromosones. The general person getting married has an XX or an XY, no matter how many sex change operations they get.

And after that, I don't give a carp about the marriage vote. I just don't.

Hmmm. I guess having a sex change should make you legally that new sex. So I cant see why they would deny you...

Genetics don't lie what you're born as is what you are no matter how much costly surgery you under go you are still the same. With that said I find this very, very funny.

Yeah well, ah im tired of seeing these threads. It's a man and a man. The dude is still a guy. So he had nip and tuck whatever. If there is strong love present then let them get married. I mean why put up these boundaires. They are bound to find a lupole(thus this dude.) Just let them get marries.

Frankly, I'm against banning gay marriage. It's pointless, and I don't see why people believe it will "change" a homosexual. Life doesn't work that way...

Actually, I've heard about this issue before. From what I hear, there have been women who have transgendered into legally being male...and then been allowed to marry their partner. Which, again, only showcases the stupidity of the law in the first place. Heck, in some cases, the women are not having their genitalia altered in any way. They are "male" only in the strictest legal sense...certainly not by science's standards. Their DNA remains as it is.

Now to approach the subject here... While I understand that there are some people out there who really believe they were born the "wrong" gender, and want to surgically and chemically change that, there are also those who are in it for the marriage and thereby giving a bad name to the gay community. The argument I heared repeated over and over is that if a woman in a female/female relationship undergoes altercations to be able to call herself "male," she is saying she wants to be straight, not that she is a lesbian. For them to continue to claim to be "gay" while in what is legally recognized as a male/female relationship is a stab in the back for homosexual couples waiting to be able to marry.

Hmmm.....Well in my country errr these gay marriages really dont exist much. Therefore, I would really say that.....Gay marriages should be banned as it is, if a male/female person changes their sex to be 'straight', they still shouldnt have the right to get married.

That is all I have to say, and that is my 'opinion'.

Well, a sex change shouldn't make it anymore difficult to get a marriage liscense. I mean, of course, you're not genetically the opposite sex, but you should be legally. If I were to install a pair of boobs and slice off the middle leg, I'd be (by all legal purposes) female. Not that I'd want to do that, sounds too painful. I'm just saying that if you're legally one gender, you shouldn't have difficulties with this issue. This is just silly!

I really think that if you're a person and you love another person... you should. I don't have anything else to say. No long comment from me. That's all that my mind ponders on about the subject. Anyone (of reason) should have the ability to get married. Nice topic, Cappy. You have me thinking. <3

hm um, if your gay then why would you want your partner to be changed into the sex that your not attracted to? JUST so that you'll be 'legally married'? Is that what these people are doing it for?

I dont know how to answer this question really, its up in the air. Pretty much I think that the sex you're born with, is the sex you truley are, no matter what you have altered to it. And I'm pro gay marriage, heck people do WAY weirder things...like changing their sex.
