Your site either has been glitched, of I've been banned at a hardware level.
I can\'t even view www.animeforum.com normally. It doesn\'t even show up on my screen. It keeps saying \"connecting\" in my browser. Nothing says I\'m banned. I just can\'t access the site. This usually happens because of a hardware firewall (such as a router equipped with firmware that allows it to have its own firewall), blocking IP addresses on its blacklist. Right now, I can\'t access the site at all, except through the proxy I\'m using right now (freeproxyserver.net)
I\'ve not knowingly broken any rules since I had my ban removed from the forum\'s IP address ban list (which wasn\'t a firewall, just a normal forum ban). Yet now my computer seems to be firewalled from the site altogether.
Can someone please explain to me, why I\'m being firewalled from your site?
Re: Your site either has been glitched, of I\'ve been banned at a hardware level.
It's entirely likely. PM me your problem IP address and I will look at our ACLs.

@Jakiao
The proxy server I was just using has now stopped working, and has become blocked too (a problem with your server's auto-blocking feature I assume, much as it was with my own IP address). I am now using a different proxy server. But this proxy crashes if I try to PM (problem with the data sent or something). I may be taking a risk, but I'm gonna post my IP actual address here (the one that really needs unblocking), because I don't know how long before your server blocks this proxy too.
My IP address is -snip-
Please delete this message as soon as you've had time to read it.

And there's where your theory strays off course. IP bans are always manual. I've done nothing to prevent your proxy from working. I'll check that IP on our ACL's, but yeah we don't have auto-bans like that.
If you want, run a traceroute to our site and post it here (not using any proxy/vpn). Maybe there's a problem elsewhere.
Edit: -snip- is not blocked at the server and/or network level.

How do I run a traceroute? What software do I need?
Re: Your site either has been glitched, of I\'ve been banned at a hardware level.
But you use proxies ... how do ... nvm
Windows --
Click "Start" -> Click "Run" -> Type in "cmd" and hit enter -> In the new black window type: tracert animeforum.com -> Once it finishes, right click and choose "Select All" -> Highlight just the relevant text -> Hit enter to copy it
Nix/Mac -
Open terminal -> Type in: tracert animeforum.com -> Select the text to copy it

Here's what I got.
-snip-
By the way, did you find any listing of my IP address in your server or router blacklist of any kind, such that it would be firewalled?

@Jakiao are you still there?
Re: Your site either has been glitched, of I\'ve been banned at a hardware level.
There aren't many IPs on our blacklist, and yours didn't match any (I checked the /16 of your address). I'm not so sure why you're having issues connecting...

Did anything you found on the traceroute seem suspicious?
By the way, I think it may be a problem in your forum's main PHP file called forum.php.
On all browsers (Firefox, IE, Chrome) when I put in the address animeforum.com in the URL bar, it correctly resolves that to www.animeforum.com and then adds on /forum.php to create the URL www.animeforum.com/forum.php. This shows up in the URL bar so I can see what address exactly it is trying to access. After it gets to www.animeforum.com/forum.php it stops making progress. The spinning circle indicator thing shows that it's trying to load data. But it never does. So at this point it would appear that the connection is locked up for some reason, and that no more data is transferred (though it appears to be trying to transfer data, and it gets stuck in this state indefinitely). This shows that it knows to look for, and can successfully find, the file forum.php, but it can't seem to completely load it.
I've got the latest version of Firefox, but the problem persists. Are any other members having trouble accessing animeforum.com? I'm having no trouble accessing ANY other website. It's just animeforum.com. Is your server undergoing any kind of maintenance? Has it been having any other trouble, or showing signs of being DDoSed, or maybe infected with malware?
I've checked my own router, and neither your URL nor your IP address is in any way blacklisted on my router. My AV software has found no malware recently on my computer. So it appears to be good from my end.

What's a /16?

By the way, it finally DID stop trying to load, and I got this error message from Firefox:
Quote:
The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Ok, it's working now. I don't know why, but it seems it's been fixed.
Re: Your site either has been glitched, of I\'ve been banned at a hardware level.
All of the site runs thru forum.php and it's only you experiencing it. Odd. I will look into it more when I return later tonight.
When trying to identify IP addresses, you identify the address range with a slash. In the case of a /16, this is the same as saying I checked for 76.104.*.*. A /24 would cover 76.104.145.*. The smallest range is a /32, meaning 1 IP address. A /31 covers 2. /30 covers 4. /29 covers 8. /28 covers 16. /27 is 32. /26 is 64. /25 is 128. /24 is 256 (one whole C block). /23 is 512 (76.120.5.0 - 76.120.6.255 for example), /22 is 1024 IPs. /21 is 2048 IPs. Etc etc etc.

Re: Your site either has been glitched, of I\'ve been banned at a hardware level.
I've been having issues with this as well, it's not just AF (Tumblr and FB) or on a consistent basis, though. Also it not even consistent with what browser it would normally work on (IE11, FF, and Chrome). I do find that if I give it some time, I can come back to the site with no problem. I'm not 100% if we're having the same exact problem, mine the "This page cannot be displayed" or "Problem loading page" message comes up. I do think my issue has more to do with the ISP than my internet or the site/server though. Then again, it's been doing this since I started running Win 8.1 with IE11.

There is a good chance your ISP's DNS simply sucks. Go into your router admin panel and find where it lists the primary and secondary DNS servers. Instead of using your ISPs nameservers, switch to : 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. This is Google's public DNS, and their system is far more resilient than your ISP's.
If you can't update your router, then update your own network connection to use these. It'll be in the properties for your network interface under tcp/ip v4.
