"Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
So here's the act: You and your best trusted mates are doing a heist at a bank in the area. The plan is solid, your escape is assured through the secret tunnel below the manager's office and getaway truck waiting at the other end. The Feds outside don't know what to do, so they desperately send a die-hard Bruce Willis in to try some heroics on your men, but you easily shoot the bald geezer in the face three times. Now, the Feds broke their side of the negotiation, so by diplomacy you must shoot one(1) hostage and have the Feds take the blame for it; you find two expendable candidates, but there's a predicament:
When you point your gun at one of them, he clichčically yells "Don't shoot, I have a wife, and kids and a mansion and a puppy and loving parents who raised me so hard blablablablabla..."
When you point you gun at the other, he yells "Don't shoot, 'cause my life is all I have."
So stop wasting time; shoot one of them and you can tell us why in the getaway truck (like now, in this thread).

Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
So I'm shooting an adult male? I think the feds at best are going to try to pretend to care. Nevertheless if your aim is to maximize damage, then you take out the family dude. No one is going to give two cents if the other one is shot.

Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
How about an adult, black male with criminal records? Obvious choice enough, Mr.South Central? Ignore the gender if you're misandric; what I want to know is which one deserves to live in your perspective: the one who's had it easy and has something to come back to, or the one who's had it rough or had nothing and has nothing currently waiting for him home?
-
Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
Honestly, I don't think either of them deserve to live more than the other. Being spoiled doesn't make you less deserving. Having a family doesn't make you more deserving.
-
Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
The first one seems to be more desperate to stay alive, but he does it in a retarded way. So it's 50/50 based on what they say.
So, in my case, other factors would determine my choice.

Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
Why can't I shoot my friend and take all the loot?
-
Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
Can I shoot them both, and just grab another hostage?
-
Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
The fist one. I don't trust him.
+ I'll get bored if he continued to count his reasons to live.

Uh, you really shouldn't trust anyone whom you are taking hostage.

Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
I'd shoot both of them, if not just the person who gave me the "I have a wife and kids!" crap. If I were a burglar I wouldn't let my feelings get in the way of my business.
By the way, I'm actually a pacifist, so this is IF I were in this position as a completely different girl.

Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
Since time is short, I'd get rid of the family guy.

Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
Weeeeeeeellllll, interesting question.
Assuming I'm actually in this situation and I have to choose which one to shoot and I absolutely have to shoot someone . . . I'd probably end up shooting the one who doesn't have a family.
Even if saying the whole family thing is cliche, I still have a heart enough to know what it would be like for the family to not have their father and everything they'd have to go through.
Sure, I'd feel bad for the guy who's only grasping to his last clutches of life but people will be able to move on easier without him rather than the other guy.
Granted, if I were in this situation and they sent in Bruce Willis, I might just run over and ask for his autograph then sell it on ebay if all else fails
Oh, and if I was in this situation I'd probably be a different person and would then kill the family guy just to be sadistic.
Or if I was smart, not kill either and just leave so I'd have more time to get away.

Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
I'd kill the one who cried the most.
-
Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
I'd make them play rock-paper-scissors.
-
Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
I'd have them play Russian Roulette.
-
Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
to save on the big decision i'd pop both of them
-
Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
"Don 't shoot, I have a wife, and
kids and a mansion- *BANG*
'Bloody rich prick'...

I probably wouldn't give a hostage a loaded gun...
Honestly, I'd probably just flip a coin. A life is a life, regardless of what a person has to live for.

Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
Or play Jigsaw.
The one who cuts off his leg faster survives.
Or something.

Only an issue if you're stupid. Obviously you wouldn't stand in front of them. If you're behind them with a gun pointed at their backs any sudden movements they could have made would still give you ample time to shoot.

Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
Don't shoot, I have a wife and children! Shoot them!
-
Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
I would shoot the one who said he had a family. What a wimp. He deserves to die. ;)
-
Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
The AnimeForum community seems very eager to shoot somebody.
I wouldn't shoot either of them. The law enforcement is obviously inept; we have the money, an escape route, and a getaway car. There's no reason to incur any more criminal charges.
-
Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
bah why shoot one guy? the feds broke their agreements with diplomacy so I'll shoot 2 hostages for every 1 thing the feds fail to promise.
-
Re: "Don't shoot, I have a wife and children!"
I would shoot the one who's better looking.
