Hey there! Just wanted to show off a little bit of my writing skills as i am getting better. Its kind of a nonsense thread but I decided to do it anyways. Let me knoe what you think! Ill post more pics as I get a bit better at writing some other kanjis :)

Thanks for the compliment! :) And yeah, I kind of splurged on the な but it's still all legible. I wrote it fairly fast too :)

Just curious, did you learn to write Japanese on your own (as opposed to in a classroom)?
I ask because I noticed you wrote your さ, き, and り computer-style, not handwriting-style. ;D
I really wish I was taking an class... :'(
Currently, I'm learning thru some books, an App, and the Internet. I know I'm suppose to lift the pen on some of them but it was a bit easier doing it the other way for me.

But you need more practice with the kanjies, you wrote them too widely.. e.g. '日' and '曰' are two entirely different words.

Looks fine to me~ The only thing I'd change is your way of writing the "辶" radical. In handwriting, it looks rather different...

It would seem you were copying words from a computer screen or a printed book, (which is fine, by the way,) but just be aware that some words look different in handwriting. :)
You're doing pretty well, but just like learning any language, you need to get down the proper way something is written. Unfortunately with asian languages there are certain orders to the strokes to make the characters, so if you can find an online source or even a practice workbook that would set you up just right. Good luck!

i would say something about the kanji but i don't know most of them. V:
I wrote out the text you had in the first image, to show you how I write it. I'm not an expert on writing it myself, just thought it would be good for you to see another person's attempt (and there are probably mistakes, such as the bit I crossed out by the ya of oyasumi!) :) For the most part, my Japanese friends can read my handwriting easily. Also note, the only pen I had near me was a fudepen (brush pen), which wasn't ideal for the smaller lines of this pad, haha.

wow your characters are highly connected, especially the い and う. yea I can read them with no problem in context, but in isolation your い looks more like ん and your う looks more like ろ. ;D
Oh wow! I never noticed that before haha. My style takes after a cursive I saw a while back, and it looks much better than what my writing used to. Shodou isn't my strong point it seems ;D

Yeah, that is totally different from my print style lol, but I'll have to say your cursive looks very cool. It's not as boring as the common stroke-by-stroke way of writing, and it feels more like art than writing when done right. Keep it up! :DQuote:

Thank you! I think it also grow from the fact I did buy the fudepens at some point, so I got used to writing with them, so I could practice a cursive style better. I really like your style though, I wish I could write like that :P Your あ and ひ look amazing, they're the hardest hiragana for myself.Quote:
